USF ME-MSN Summer 2021

Nursing Students Pre-Nursing

Published

Hi everyone!! I didn't see a thread here so I'm starting one for the University of San Francisco's (USF) ME-MSN program for non-nurses for the San Francisco campus! The deadline is actually today (1/15/2021) and I was wondering who else applied! Good luck y'all and I hope we all get in together :-))

April seems a little late, especially since the program starts soon after that. And the applications for Fall are due 4/15. I read in a thread from 2020, that people who were waitlisted had to decide to decline and drop off the waitlist to reapply. Hopefully we hear sooner than later. ??

Hi All! Any intel on when people generally hear back for Summer cohort?

They say around 10 weeks from the submission deadline. So should be around the end of the month! From past forums it looks it’s sometimes a little earlier, but last year it was later like early April (due to Covid delays). Hopefully sooner than later because the program starts sometime in May so you really don’t have much time to figure out living arrangements and such haha ??

Does anyone know anyone who started the Spring 2021 Program? Are the first few semesters remote? I’m sure it’s changing now due to vaccinations being administered and whatnot. Waiting anxiously ?

Last time I talked to my friend in the program was December, and she said they were staying online for the Spring still from what she knew. She says it is harder, but they stay connected with each other online. If I get accepted I'll call her for an update and let you know more!

Also, she mentioned that she didn't find the classes that contributed to her master's degree in the program difficult.

That would be helpful, thanks!

Friends,

Do we know if they will update us via email, phone, snail mail or the gradapply portal to let us know an update?

I'll be out of the country at the end of the month and am curious.

Good question- I’m assuming it’s via email? It would be weird to be sending things via mail nowadays, especially with issues the post office has been having recently.

Hi friends!

First time posting here! I've been reading past threads for USF to keep me from checking my email every 20 minutes to hear back LOL. I've also applied to Samuel Merritt ELMSN CM and just had an interview last week~

My stats: I graduated as a Biology major. My cumulative GPA is a 2.98 while my prereq is 3.56 and I have 100 hours as a nurse assistant and volunteer hours in a geriatric nursing home. I've also worked as a back office medical receptionist for 2 years and observed at least 50 hours of surgeries. I also have my CPR cert.. I feel like I'm slacking compared to others who've applied, but I thought it would be worth a shot at applying!

I remember selecting a specific interest in nursing I.e. pediatrics or health administration. I selected health administration! Does anyone know how this affects our application?

ALSO! I noticed how thin our cohort thread is!! Do you think this mean less people applied to Summer 2021? Hmmmm...

From what I've seen on previous threads, they may call you if you got accepted! They may also email you if you've been waitlisted or denied. It seems like they waitlist almost everyone and you don't even know what number you are on the waitlist.

Hope this helps!

In response to my email to USF SONHP about communication medium of application acceptance/waitlist/etc.

Hey,

So this is my second time applying (I applied for the OC campus last fall for Spring start and was rejected. It made sense, I had a lot of prereqs remaining) and I’m surprised how long they’re taking this time; it’s actually really rude, considering that the program begins in May. I heard back from a June start program (DePaul, accepted) and a Fall start program in February (MGH, waitlisted); both came weeks earlier than promised. The last round for USF OC campus, they wrote me on the ninth week just before Thanksgiving. This time, it seems they’re pushing it as long as they can.

It’s gotta be this week or next week. I figured they would tell us before they went on break (3/14), but apparently not. I’m not expecting to get in, but it would be nice to officially know when the start of the program is less than two months away. I’m so sorry for everyone else stuck in the same predicament.

Yeah I think it’s really unfortunate for folks who live outside of the Bay Area that will have to scurry to make living arrangements and whatnot. I am hoping classes are online for the first semester(s) so that can at least give folks time to get their living situation in order. Luckily, I’m from the Bay but feel for all those who’ve applied out of the area. Hoping we hear back soon! Congrats Rebecca on the DePaul acceptance!!
