Just wondering if there are any USF applicants out there? I had a couple questions :)
Sorry for the questions but I f i n a l l y got my undergraduate acceptance and when I logged into SOAR to fill out an application it came up with this .. "You must be an active student with an accepted USF application within 1 term to apply for the College of Nursing's BSNUR Program. Does this mean I can't apply to the nursing school or do I have to at least wait a week for the application to officaly process? Thank you in advanced !
No one has really talked about their GPA, and I don't remember any professor mentioning an average. You can call the pre-nursing advisor who might have that information. I know only about 25% of applicants were accepted last summer.I'm doing the accelerated program, and honestly its moving too fast for me, but I'm surviving. Now that it's winter break I'm using the Kaplan program they made us buy to practice and review. Only a nursing student would be studying over vacation!
I like it a lot. I wish I had gotten into the VA system, but they assign us based on zip codes, and some Tampa people have to drive all the way to Sarasota. You need a good car: I put 5,000 miles on it in 3 months!!! But I live far from campus, and they have a clinical site one mile from my house, but I can't attend that site because it's for regular BSNs, not ABSNs. So, instead of driving two miles roundtrip to clinical, I drive 80 miles roundtrip. So they are not flexible or commuter friendly (I complain about it in all my student surveys.) But it's only one year, and it's so worth it to get a BSN in one year rather than going to a local community college for two years, and then needing to do an ASN-BSN since no hospitals here will hire ASN's.
We've also been warned that the Tampa area is saturated with nurses and nursing schools, so I hope you plan to move after graduation. My hospital recently received 400+ applications for 17 nurse resident jobs.
I can't even get a PCT/CNA job around here. I'm planning to move to upstate NY after graduation, but am open to other suggestions.
Hi, I was just reading around and noticed u said hospitals in Tampa won't hire an ASN degree. What recourse did u get that information from. I'm curious because I'm actually going to HCC and will be applying to the program. I'm in my last semester for prerequisites. And USF has an Accelerated BSN program for 1 year?
I'm a little confused. I'm applying to the summer bsn but right now I'm waiting for the undergrad to change my term(I had to switch admissions from fall to summer). So when you guys went on to soar were you able to fill out the application right then and there or did you have to wait a couple of days?

Thanks for the information! It sucks that the deadline is in another month but I am glad they are relatively quick.
