It's a sad day for me I just found out I failed the RN for the first time. I got between 80 and 90 questions. Last time i studied KAplan, Davis, Mcgraw and some other book and cd I can't remeber the name of.
So now what should I study? I'm seriously in disbelief cause I took my PN boards after being out of school for 4 months and not opening a book once. I seriously think it may have been excelsior since I opted for that versus traditional nursing school. Their passing rate was 86% whereas my pn school was 99.8%
I alreayd re-registered I'm just waiting for my ATT, does anyone know how long it takes to get it the second time aorund?
Any advice is greatly appreciated
I am a soon to be Excelsior grad, and I actually would recommend it but only for those who are self motivated, and do well with independent study. Honestly if you need your hand held to learn (nothing wrong with that BTW), not only would Excelsior be a bad choice, but any online or book NCLEX review would also be a bad choice. You more likely need and in person, review to be able to ask questions and grasp more. Some people just learn differently. I will say that if you review the syllabus for learningext.com, both the RN and PN reviews are essentially the same. The only difference is that the RN course has a Management component. That would lead one to believe that the NCLEX itself follows the same model. So since you pased the PN, you probably just need a little refresher in content and need to focus more on management and priority.
And lastly, the next time you test, say St. Joseph of Cuppertino's prayer as a novena. It works for me every time.

you are sooo right!! I am not self motivated and I do take short cuts! However I did sign up for learningext.com 5 week course :) I have to be motivated now it;'s crunch time
Thank you for that info, I was out of school over 1 year and I studied own my on and took the PN nclex and passed first time. So I think I will do good at it. Also I always pray and keep god first, because he's guiding me through everything. I heard that the program can be completed in 8 months, is this true? Thanks, God bless!

I honestly would not recommend excelsior at all! I had to teach myself everything and so I of course took short cuts to get done quicker, which lead me to not learning the content, which I believe lead me to failing the boards. Like I said earlier I was out of LPN school for 4 months when I took the PN boards and didnt open a book once.
And if you want to go to EC...
you have to take 7 or 8 nursing classes depending if you're an LPN etc. You get a content guide that tells you what textbooks to buy, and gives you a syllabus. You can take as long as you want to take the exam for the class. Each class has 1 exit exam that is it. The syllabus tells you chapters but not pages and give you what you need to know but not where to find it. You're basically paying them for credits. Pearsob vue testing centers the tests are $235 each, 180 questions. PM me if u have more questions.
