USC Versant New Grad Residency 2013

So...here we go! Applications are in for the August cohort. How are you guys feeling? When did you get your materials submitted? I finally hit "submit" yesterday. I'm both relieved and excited. Hope we can take this journey together on allnurses :-).

I submitted my app Wednesday. I am excited to be at a point where I can take steps like this, but I am nervous and terrified because who knows what's going to happen next. I also hope we all make it!

I hope that we find out sooner than later about interviews and such. Waiting sucks :-)! What units are you interested in? I applied to the ICUs.

Does anyone know their criteria for selecting applicants for the initial interview? Is there a points system? Is it weighted mostly by GPA/school, or are there other factors?

The recruiter said they really look at personal statements and letters of rec more than anything else.

Does anyone know who actually reviews the applications? The recruiters? Program Mgr? Unit Managers?

Still nothing for me.

Also, I applied for a few non-RN positions back in March, and April and those are also still "in progress." Hope this isn't a sign of the wait to come :(

No, I didn't. All of my USC apps from several months ago are still listed as "in progress"

I received a call last night (7pm) that I got an interview with oncology. They asked if I was available this Thursday or next week. I decided to go with next week because I'm not prepared enough for this week.

I am a bit surprised that I got an interview. I messed up on my application, and forgot to attach a lot of the documents and ended up emailing them.

Just checked on the status of my application and it says, "In Progress."

Hope this helps, and don't give up yet!
