USAGPAN 2020

Hello all,

I've been cruising this forum for some time now and wanted to start up a USAGPAN 2020 application thread. Who else is applying for FY2020 or thinking about applying? Best of luck to everyone!!! I know the application with Baylor barely opened (Feb 1st) I'm pending my GRE and CCRN. I have 2.5 years ICU the last year being at a level one trauma center in Los Angeles. I Already passed MEPS (what a relief and different experience) and am now getting my LORs in order.

Cheers to all....lets make this happen!!!

I completed my phase II interview last week. I am from san antonio so I did not need housing/food, but I was told they do cover travel expenses for people from out of state. When will be you there? It was a great experience! @inspiredbynavy

@littlefrogbutt.. Still waiting on my recruiter to setup a date. I'm in TX but 4 hours away.

Specializes in Ortho, Med surg and L&D.

Good luck to all the USAGPAN applicants. Its been over 9 years since I 'started' that program. However, it was a long time ago in the scheme of things and I only lasted 5 weeks into the awesome program.

I was Active Duty and earned a "C" grade in a condensed length class, (and I was dropped from the program.) However, I was also the "last" non ICU nurse they accepted so at least, or unfortunately, they closed the door on non ICU nurses after me.

There are many good things to say about the educators there, just awesome, (and also am VERY glad my washout happened early rather than later.)

Jen

p.s. signed no regrets

Looking into USAGPAN vs other military options. Does everyone direct commission as a LT or is it possible to get CPT? I know most will graduate as CPT. Will have 8yrs of ICU/Flight experience along with CCRN and CFRN.

I believe everyone goes in as a 1st or 2nd Lt. There is a chart available online where you can calculate your constructive credit. I believe only Docs and some PAs/NPs can commission as a captain. And yes youre right, by the time you graduate, you will be captain.

I got my interview dates.. Next week. Where is the location for this? I read from last year's thread it was in Ft Hood but for some reason was anticipating it to be in San Antonio. Same case this year?

Also, this thread is dead in activity compared to like the last 3 cohorts' threads.. Are not many people applying this year or something?

I am wondering the same thing... I was under the impression there were about ~150 applicants? they obviously dont use allnurses lol

my interview was at Brooks Army Medical Center here in San Antonio. I think itll be the same for you. Ft hood is down the street. Good luck!! ? let me know how it goes

I'm thinking this year's applicant pool might be smaller. about a month ago when I first started my application my recruiter told me only 1 other nurse in the entire greater houston area was applying. That may have changed, but who knows. By this time for last year and the previous years they were already at page 10 in the thread. lol

Dang, I was hoping it would be in Ft Hood. That's where I'm from and the folks live there as well. Thanks, I'll post an update aftewards

I have completed my phase 2 interview a few weeks ago. It was a great experience! I am still waiting on my appointment to MEPS. How's the process going with everyone? This is last day before the Baylor application is due?

Whats up all,

Just finished up my Phase 2 interview last week at Fort Bragg NC. Im from NY so they flew me out, paid for the hotel on base and for taxis, and gave me a food stipend for the trip.

From what I heard something like 120 people are applying this year and I was told this was one of the most competitive years. Could be true and just no one uses this forum, or could be a hoax haha.

Hoping to hear back at a reasonable time for admissions. MEPS is done, Baylor app is all set to go. Anyone know the time frame for hearing back from admissions?

Last year, applicants found out in early September but my question is that just acceptance into Baylor or acceptance for both board decision and Baylor?

I believe Baylor and the Army board communicate directly throughout selection or are possibly the same team. So if you are ultimately accepted by Baylor, as long as you meet the requirements for the Army you should be good to go. Thats my understanding of it.
