I noticed someone had started a thread to rally up nurses applying to the USAGPAN class starting this year so I thought I'd do the same for next year's class! I'll be speaking with a recruiter soon, but I hope to begin the application process very soon! I have about 2 years of critical care experience, just took my GRE and I'm scheduled to take my CCRN next month. I'll be doing that biochem class sometimes before June as well. Anyone else out there applying for next year's Army Nurse Anesthesia Program?
Hey Guys,
So I finally took the GRE last Friday and I'm going in to meet with my recruiter this Thursday. I was asked to bring in a motivational speech. Does anyone have any tips on what to write? Also after meeting with the recruiter and having all your forms submitted, how long after did you have your phase 2 interview?
I am very late to this thread, as I just found it today, but have been struggling with my recruiter for the last 8 months. Slow and steady progress has gotten me to this point. Literally EVERYTHING is completed with the exception of my Phase II interview. I have been waiting weeks for it to be scheduled. Has anyone else had that problem?
My recruiter has been pretty helpful. Which state are you in?
I reside in Colorado and I have been told that I am going to Fort Bliss for my interview. At this point I am most concerned about deadlines. I can't get a clear picture of when everything needs to be completed by. According to NEU website, the deadline for application for the previous class was December 15. Although now I have heard its September 1st this year. I am finding it very difficult to get accurate answers and just want to make sure I am passed by strictly because of ignorance of pertinent information; on my behalf or my recruiter...

I didn't have anything to prepare when I met with the recruiter. However, as part of the application process, you're required to write a one page Motivational Statement. Here are the guidelines I was given. Maybe structure your speech around those questions?

I would imagine everyone's timeline is a little different, and different recruiters seem to have different preferences as to when they met with you. My first contact with him was 10 MAR (and he was wary about me not having taken the GRE yet. He was working with one applicant already that scored below the minimum twice.) GRE was 21 MAR. MEPS was 18 MAY. My Phase 2 interview is next Tues.
Good luck and keep us posted!

Ah, blissful Fort Bliss. Actually William Beaumont was a decent trauma center from what I remember. I did a 3 day job shadow there when I was exploring AROTC in nursing school in 2004.
Per NEU USAGPAN's website (School of Nursing | US Army Graduate Program in Anesthesia Nursing | Nurse Anesthesia Programs | Army Nursing Program), direct accession (civilian) applicants must apply by 9/1/17 for class starting June 2018. My recruiter said the Long Term Health Education and Training (LTHET) board will meet on 31 October 2017. Everything has to be done by then. Our goal was to have everything (online application, medical, CV approval, phase 2 interview, etc) completed by the end of this month, just to allow for some wiggle room. Hope this helps. Good luck!
I'm in! I got my acceptance letter from NEU the other day. I was also told by my recruiter that I have been selected by the army board. The only thing left is accept the seat and get the paperwork signed. As someone with no prior military experience I must say it's exciting and overwhelming at the same time... I can't wait to get started with the school and learning about anesthesia, but the military life will be a huge adjustment. I'm sure it will be worth it though. :)

That's awesome! Congratulations!!
By no means do I wish to take the winds out of your sails, but I am wondering how you were boarded before the boards are scheduled to start. Did you get an official document detailing your acceptance or was it your recruiter just saying that you were all but accepted? I notified my recruiter of your progress and he is in relative disbelief.
