USAGPAN 2018

Specialties Government

I noticed someone had started a thread to rally up nurses applying to the USAGPAN class starting this year so I thought I'd do the same for next year's class! I'll be speaking with a recruiter soon, but I hope to begin the application process very soon! I have about 2 years of critical care experience, just took my GRE and I'm scheduled to take my CCRN next month. I'll be doing that biochem class sometimes before June as well. Anyone else out there applying for next year's Army Nurse Anesthesia Program?

I too am applying to the program beginning in 2018. I'm almost done with my Army application and waiting to hear about the phase 2 interview dates. I'm probably a bit early but my healthcare recruiter has really been pushing me to complete it all very early... which works for me as it gives me more time to plan ahead. I'm working on completing my school application - have to submit the references and the personal statement. Does anyone know if the references/ recommendations are in the form of an online survey or a formal letter?

Hi! I have two questions. When you went to MEPS, did you have to meet the weight & BMI requirements at that time? When do you have to meet the requirements to pass the physical fitness portion? Push ups, sit ups, and 2 mile run?

Thank you for your assistance! :)

I just started the program in June as a direct commission. If anyone has any questions I would be happy to answer them! It has been amazing so far! Also...don't waste money on expensive biochem. I took an online intro to organic and biochem 3 credit course from Iowa central. Under distance learning and flex net course. Cost $300ish and was accepted no problem!!

Congrats on being in the program!! I have questions & yes I have asked them a couple of times on this board.

You will have to meet height/weight at MEPS. You do not have to pass the pushups, sit-ups, run (APFT) until DCC. If you dont pass the first tome, you will likely have another opportunity, but you will likely also have

Required PT sessions that others don't.

Hoekan01,

Thank you so much for this information. It truly is all I needed to know; however, you did give me new terminology I am unfamiliar with. What is DCC? Is that done before or after you are accepted into the program? Also, does MEPS need to be completed before I submit my applications to NEU & USAGPAN? I am working hard to meet my height weight requirements by the end of July 2018 in preparation for MEPS if I have to complete it before applications are due. Again, I appreciate your help.

My school application is complete. I still need to do MEPS and an interview. I had heard we should here back on acceptance NOV/DEC as well.

Hi! Just for clarification, you submitted your application to UNE by Sept 1 and will be completing MEPS and your Phase 2 afterwards?

Thanks!

DCC is Direct Commission course. It's done before BOLC, but after you're accepted and commissioned and have orders (you'll get orders to go to DCC and then BOLC).

MEPS is after you apply. You'll submit your application and your recruiter should get you scheduled for MEPS.

Just a heads up, the degrees

No longer come from NEU. The contract went to Baylor this year, so you'll be applying to Baylor University and USAGPAN. You should be able to get a timeline (or order of events for the application process, if you will) from your recruiter when you meet with them.

I am glad to hear MEPs is done after application submission because I can stay on my fitness plan! I am excited they switched to Baylor. I am from Texas so this is good news. The website is not updated with the Baylor information just yet. I am going to call a recruiter tomorrow. Thank you again!
