Just heard from my recruiter...I'm an alternate select, but at #31, so he said chances are I won't get picked up this year. If I don't get picked up I'll be applying again next year!! Thank you all for all the support and hopefully we'll all meet in person as Air Force nurses someday!!
You know as spots open up throughout the year they pull upon their alternates! I am surprised they would go as far as alt #31, but it must mean in the past they have needed them!! I haven't found out yet, but now I am scared as you and the other alternate aren't too close to graduation.
I am going to be crossing my fingers for you to find out your acceptance along the year though! Don't give up hope!

I am an alternate select! I am number 17! Don't think this year is my year either! Thanks for all the support and good luck to those who get selected!

Thanks AFhopeful!! I was surprised they went as far as alt #31 as well...the highest alternate on the list my recruiter sent me was #47, so maybe they go to 50 or something like that. My recruiter said that overnight last night all the alternates moved up 3 spots (so I guess I'm #28 now), so you never know! The only thing I'm not too happy about is I'm going to have to go through the entire MEPS process again if I don't get selected before January since my physical will be 2 years old at that point...you all know how much fun that is.
I hope that you hear from your recruiter soon and that they have good news for you!
You never know tngonzales87!! I think you have a MUCH better chance of making it than I do!!

Sorry to hear that... Like I posted before I think they look at full RNs before those still in school.Stay strong your last year in. Throughout this whole process I was lucky to be able to read everyone's posts on here as well as have the help of my husband who is a medically retired Navy Corpsman and purple heart recepiant who been deployed 3 times (2 to Iraq) after 9/11. He really helped me realize how important nurses are in the military and also how much they are needed. I recieved entrance to Sigma Theta Tau, Phi Kappa Phi honor society in school as well The National Society of Collegiate Scholars. Not sure if that helped but I was also very active in college(voulenteered over 400 hours to various causes, even habitat for humanity down in New Orleans after Katrina and also was president of my sorority AOII) I'm not sure how your nursing school was but at mine our nursing classes were grouped into 10 - 12 credit hour classes so it really hurt my gpa if I got a B in one of those classes as we were not in the +/- scale.Lol so basically in short what I'm saying is use this last year to get more accomplishments under your belt for next year.
Omg!!! I was the president of my AOII chapter too! Small world!
WOOOOO!! I was selected for Med/surg!!!!!!!! Can't believe it!! Good luck to everyone!!!!!!
