Hello everyone,
I have been searching all over the web for a good nurse traveling agencies that pays for accomodation and assists with VISA sponsorship. I have completed my registration application for the Victoria Boards as my husband and I are looking at the Melbourne area. I actually just recently sent the application out. Does anyone know how long it generally take to hear back for international nurses?
I have researched several agencies such as nursing australia, Ogrady, nursing4australia, VNS, Nurse Traveler, Nightingale Nursing, etc... and they dont mention providing accomodation. If I didn't have a 2 year old daughter this would not be such a big deal but we are trying to start a new life there and accomodation even for a month will give us more security and time to get settled.
I am still very confused about the whole process of gaining a sponsorship for VISA, police clearance, registration process after assessment, etc... Is there anyone out there who has been through this or understands this process that can provide some insight. Anything will be appreciated!:wink2: SO FRUSTRATING:confused:
THANKS
I included a copy of my transcripts, but the also want a certified copy of initial registration or enrollment. I am hoping to work in the Canberra area. I love Australia and feel so at home there. The people I have met there are so wonderful. My contract in San Francisco ends in May. I hope by then to have everything in order.
G"day Cathyr, if you haven't already done it, when you first qualified they will have sent you your registration, the Statement of Entry to the roll or register, you are sure to have had this, you need to have it copied and signed as a genuine copy by a JP or whoever else can do it and that's it, you should have no trouble getting work in Canberra because nobody else can find their way around the road system! A beautiful city though, however, the winter there is a little different to what you have in San Francisco

Hi, since we are talking about moving to australia and working as a nurse, could I ask you guys questions regarding on how to be registered as a nurse in australia? I have tried looked in aphra and actually took a test ielts, but I failed , I was unable to get 7.0 in all bands. Does anybody know another way other than taking ielts? I graduated with associate degree from united state, but had my accounting degree from Indonesia. Does the australian board take bachelor in nursing only or do they also accept associate? I have worked 2 yrs as RN, and I heard one of the requirement is to have at least 3 years of experience? pls advise, kindly
Hello there,
I understand the IELTS is a MUST for all foreign trained nurses that want to work in OZ regardless of your qualifications or nationality unless if this has changed. Just keep on practising for the test, you will eventually get it.
About the registration, Oz now has a National registration unlike USA where each state has its own.
Good Luck y'all!!!

Minimum requirement is 3months experience within the past 5 years. You can take Occupational English Test and should score B there. If your degree in Nursing is assessed as equivalent to Aus education then it will be honored. Nursing education should be 3 years full time. Other overseas trained nurses are required to undergo the Bridging Program for 2-3mos.:)

Yes, you can get registered as an R.N. in Australia with a U.S. Associate Degree in nursing (ADN).

Applications received after 14 September 2010
"Nurses and midwives qualified in the United Kingdom, the Republic of Ireland, the United States of America, Canada, New Zealand, Hong Kong and Singapore who have a degree or a diploma and further education and who are registered as a first level nurse in these countries, are deemed to have the equivalent qualification as a practitioner qualified in Australia.
Specifically, this means nurses and midwives who have successfully completed a minimum
six semester (or equivalent) Bachelor degree or Associate degree (or higher) in general nursing at a university in one of these countries, who also has professional licensure as a registered (first level) nurse in the country of education, will be considered to meet the requirement for equivalence to an Australian degree completed at an Australian university."
Hi everyone. I'm a registered nurse here in the Philippines and I'm interested in applying there in Australia. What are the requirements to be an RN there and is it easy to get a Visa? Thanks!

Not sure what you mean, in what capacity are you trying to work in Australia? Here, enrollment is different to registration, if you are enrolled, is that the same as LPN? Anyhow, your training establishment must have details of the course you undertook,, either the establishment itself or the board that qualified you, how could they not? Keep asking, and ask different officials as you simply have to obtain a transcript of your training or nobody will know if you have covered the subjects required to qualify in Australia,
good luck, which part of Australia are you aiming for?
