Hi I am a US nurse with 2 years of med/surg experience looking to relocate to oz within the next couple of months. I have done lots of research concerning visa, registration. No agencys seem to be replying to me. Would just like some advice from anybody who has done this transition before? How you did it? What the work schedule will be like? How it is transitioning? THe process in general. Thanks so much!!! Any response will be greatly appreciated!!!!
So i need a letter of recommendation from my past employer.. only thing is i've worked in the same hospital for 2 years, on two different floors of course but still the same health system. When i ask my first manager should i tell her that i need the letter for travel nursing prospect, or not tell her the whole situation seeing as she seees me current manager daily.
im not sure how much i can rely on her discretion.. she was a decent manager but a bit of a loud mouth.. i will tell my current manager at some point when i get offered a job of course.. but i dont want to tell her anything right now when nothing has really happened yet. I was just going to liste coworkers and my previous manager as referees on my resume.
I know that upon a job offer they need to speak to your current manager.. but not before getting the interview. How would anyone go about job seeking if they always had to talk to your current manager? Is that how it is in Australia. Here they only speak to your current employer if they are ready to hire you.
Same here Rach, according to Phillipino forum, nobody has contacted any current or previous employer from AHPRA. I think this needs to be supplied so you can show you have experience in the last 5 years......they may make spot checks, don't know.
Previous employers are usually called for a reference if you apply and have the job on condition of references. It is custom for your interviewers to ask permission to contact current employers for a reference, due to leaving for conflicts etc. though if you are from overseas this is not an issue, but they still should ask permission if you are still considered an employee by your current employer. If they are the only employer then there is not much choice.

That's bizarre. I suppose they could be asking HR to verify that your previous employment/experience on the current CV tallies with the CV you used to get the job you have now, but it's still weird. Do you think HR or your current manager would be happy if you presented it like that, rather than as verification that it's accurate and complete?
