US graduate nurse with F1 student visa need sponsorship

Hi everyone,

I recently graduated as a RN from Santa Barbara California last May and passed my NCLEX last July. However, I am carrying a student visa and I need a sponsor so I can stay in the US. It's been a tough journey for me to become an RN. I left my family, friends, country (Philippines) and I came to the US by myself. I took all the classes needed for the RN, from ESL (english as second language), to anatomy and physiology. Anyway, the education part is done and now job/sponsor is the next step. I am looking for a sponsor and I am willing to relocate any state (prefer CA) just to stay in the US. I am currently holding an employment authorization card for a year. I would greatly appreciate anybody who can guide me through the process and as well as job hunting.

Thanks all!!!!

oh crap!!.. I graduated last May 24 and my OPT starts July 21st. Can I work in different kind of job not related to nursing? I can always ask my boss to hire me back (on campus job) but the job is NOT nursing related. Anyway, I will consider the LTC at this time. Thanks for the advice.

No. It must be related to your education or the opt is invalidated. LTC counts. You need to hurry up as the clock started ticking on the day you graduated.

Hello sbsurfer-rn.. How are you doing? I posted my own thread someone posted a link to your thread. I guess we have the same situation but your ahead in a way that you already took the nclex and I'm still finding a way to take it.. I wanted to PM you but I couldn't figure it out. Haha.. Anyway, how about go back to school just to buy time?

thegratefulone----going back to school is another option but it will cause me an arm and a leg. I will consider that option as soon as my OPT is over. I don't think you can send a private message through this...I'm new to this site.

I know exactly how you feel. The fees are crazy. Yeah I just figured that out too. Have you considered asking legal help? Maybe an immigration lawyer would better know how to help?

. If caught by USCIS you are up for deportation and up to 10 year ban from entering the US.

And we all know how deportation works in USA, it don't. USCIS or ICE will never hunt you down, you will be free to go along with your business in USA as normal.

If they give you a immigration court date, just do like all others do and not show up. What are they going to do to you, Answer is nothing

Until Immigration is fixed in the USA, and in my opinion it is now too far broke to be fixed, People who decide to cheat the system/or break the laws will be the people rewarded most.

Hello I have been researching on what to do next about my case. I'm on the same boat, I'm gonna be on OPT starting feb 1 2016. would u mind sharing to me what are u doing now and just please give me some insight what do next kabayan? would really appreciate. here's my email [email protected]

total bs.

With the OPT permit you can look for a sponsor and receive greencard sponsorship with any job offer.

Don´t even look at the H1B visas, there is an official RN shortage which speeds up greencard processing for Rn´s. Don´t let anyone tell you otherwise just because they want to sound "clever".

You´ve got 12 months on your OPT, make yure to use the time wisely and find an employer at least halfway through your permission to sponsor you.

Apply nation wide to increase your chances.

There has not been a fast track for green cards for RNs for several years. Just look for the posts of Philippine nurses that have waited 8-10 years for visa and only just now going for interviews

Hey, I don't know where you get your information from, but every RN I know including the ones from Thailand and the Philipines took between 3-6 months to complete Greencard issuance and processing. Also, there is a fast track for employers due to the fact that employers don't have to interview Americans for the position as its a high acuity profession. I work in a hospital with plenty of international employees and NONE of them waited 8-10 Years. I guess if you can't get your education evaluated that's a different story. The paper work needs to be correct.

Sources: US Visa Bulletin, nurses fall under EB3, those born in the Philippines are current if their visa application was accepted on or before 10 January 2010 (6.5 years wait for a visa as of September 2016) Visa Bulletin For September 2
