US citizen studying in the Philippines

Published

hi i was just searching about going back to PI and study nursing there. Im actually planning to go back and study nursing but theres a lot of questions that i havent get an answer. Im also a US citizen and I have taken prerequisites here in US. I understand that applying for dual citizen is better because i dont have to get the student visa?.. I just dont know how to start. I dont know what will i get if i graduate from PI. What will be the requirements here in CA before i can take nclex. If anyone can help me and tell me how to start and what will happen after i graduate please reply to me , i really need help to decide. thank you

I would suggest you worry about state requirements once you have completed your training as things may change between now and then.

The disadvantage of having a dual citizen (american and filipino) is that you will be required to take the local board because you are a Filipino citizen. Since you will be applying in CA for your license, then you will be submitting your transcript of record plus a written explanation why you don't have a license in the Phils. I don't know if you will still be needing fingerprint because you are an american.

You will ALWAYS need your fingerprints done regardless if you're an American Citizen or not. Before fingerprinting was a requirement there were a lot of nurses both foreign and domestic who weren't fingerprinted. Since it's now a requirement, as your license is beging to expire they're requiring you to go back and get your fingerprints done.
