Was wondering who all was applying to USAGPAN FY2025?
Hi everyone, I head to El Paso on Monday for my interview/shadow next week! When you interview after the half day you shadow, do you change before your interview or stay in scrubs? Just trying to decide if I need to bring my interview suit. Is there anything extra anyone recommends on taking other than a little notepad and pen?

When I went last year they asked me if I wanted to stay in scrubs or do my interview clothes, I changed into my interview clothes, I had a suit but I was told from the clinical site director that I could just bring business casual and to not bring a suit so I just did business casual
I brought pencil and notepad to take notes during shadowing

When I was done I waited outside the room for about 5 minutes while the interviewers deliberated then called me back in
I was told on the spot they would definitely write my letter of rec and would be putting in his letter to the program director that he highly recommended me for the program

Nice. Is the LOC from the shadow/interview weighed heavily during the selection?

See you Monday

Hi @Autumn Ellis, good luck on Monday and sending good thoughts! If you search other years USAGPAN threads there are some nuggets of shadow/interview experiences. I can't pinpoint any exact post but if you have time to peruse other years, there's a lot of applicant experiences that give insight to all aspects of the program. Maybe avoid anything older than 2018 though because it looks like the program was through a different university prior to Baylor.
Let us know how it goes! I'm still waiting for @32SoulPatrolRN's update about BOLC.

They take a holistic approach but from what I understand from most CRNA programs across the board, the LOR carries a significant amount of weight. This is your chance to show the faculty you may be working with you personally know the program director if they feel you are a good fit for the program
try to be as engaging as possible within reason, obviously if there's critical parts of the case you can hold your questions but once the case starts going, go to town on the questions
be true to yourself and really convey that passion wanted to be a CRNA and serving as an officer in the US Army
I'm just getting home from my first week in the field at BOLC so I'll have more details soon
I will say coming from no military background the field was definitely a new experience but I am very honored and privileged to be serving and don't regret my decision one bit even with how rough of a start it was having to move and be away from family
as we're getting bussed home right now we have been awake since 330 AM this morning, had a land nav test needing 6/8 points to pass that started while it was still dark outside
my body is aching, I'm tired and hungry but I felt like I learned so much about the army health system this week in the field and makes me more excited to be a CRNA in the Army

I got there around 0615 the first day. The student who reached out to me Sunday gave me an article to read. Once I got there I was paired with that student and I just pretty much shadowed her until around 4. She asked a little about the article but nothing crazy. I asked a ton of questions about the program. The next day I had to get there at 0515 and was paired with another student. He gave me a chapter to read the night before, but was just asked about it. I shadowed him until about 4 as well. Wednesday I got there at 0515 and was paired with a different student. I shadowed until about 1200, then was taken away for the interview. I kept my scrubs, wasn't given the chance to change. In mine I did get a lot of clinical and personal questions, typical interview ones. They had me leave the room and then had me come back in for the results of the interview and shadow experience.
Hi friends! I just wanted to comment and let y'all know I'm available to answer questions as well. I applied last year and I'm currently at BOLC w/ @32SoulPatrolRN and @Nolan1842. Good luck during the application process!

Congratulations!!
Do you mind sharing your stats/ICU experience? Also, where did you shadow/interview? How was the process for you? Were you asked more clinical or emotional questions?
