Hey All!!!!

I know this has been mentioned before, but I also know that it is buried somewhere within all of the information on this website so I thought I would create a new thread.

This is for all people going to COT 10-06 in August.

If you are on Facebook, we have a Facebook page started that you will be able to find called "US Air Force COT 10-06" Join the group or post questions and messages on here.

Can't wait to see you all in August!!!

If you show up to COT over the weight limit, do they send you home?

I agree with Carolina, we are or will be officers and professionals and need to dress and act accordingly. Lead by example. Also first impression on the staff at Maxwell is very important.

The weight issue I know from the E side as my husband was a recruiter YRS ago. If there was a recruit close he/she would do daily weights. Also hit the gym to burn off fat. The day you ship you get weighted, I have never heard of a stop then for shipping. Cut out soda, white's (flour, sugar, salt) and up your intake of water and fresh fruits and vegs. Good Luck

As soon as you walk in the door, you get your room assignment, your reflective belt and your hydration system. Then you get weighed and measured. I think there were some people that were overweight. I don't know what the reprecussions were though. I know they didn't send you home. Do whatever you can to pass the PT and be in weight. It will be an expectation for your career.

The weight issue must not be that tightly enforced once you are in, because most of the military people I see are more than just a little overweight. I may be a little sensative to the issue as I work so hard to get back under the line.

Hello everyone,

I'm set for COT on August 23. Good to see there is a facebook group for us, I will make sure to join it.

Just a question for anyone here who has done this already or knows someone who has, Is the 5k run timed? If so what is the time limit? I've never been a runner, but I feel like I can work on getting the 1.5 mile in a reasonable time in the next couple months. The 5k is a whole other story... =(

Also, does anyone know at what sort of score at what ranges we will need to qualify for the pistols? Shot a pistol at the shooting range for the first time today, scared me a bit at first but I wanted to be familiar with it before the pressure was on.

All the information is available online regarding the PT standards for the AF; http://airforce-pt.com/female.html. They are put out by gender and age, so you will have to find out where you fall. They also have a program outline to help you build up to the run but it is 8 weeks long if I am not mistaken. Your recruiter should have gone over this with you to prep you for the physical conditioning you will need.

The 5k at COT is timed, but doesn't count in your PT test.

You will not be learning to shoot at COT. The only weapons you touch are plastic. There isn't enough time in 5 weeks to learn everything you have to learn as it is!

If you have time.... learn how to tie a good knot with a big clumsy rope (I'm serious, it'll help).

And that link is to the old PT standards which changed July 1st.

Thanks for the info, I just thought we might have to qualify with pistols since the nurse I interviewed with specificly asked if I had any moral objections to using a firearm since I would be required to do so if I was sent to the middle east. Guess that is something that will only happen if you are in a situation where you need to carry one.

I also have the current standards for the physical fitness test from the COT website already, there wasn't any specifics about the 5K run except that there would *be* one. I mean I could do 5k easily at my own pace.

Just wondering if I should step things up to try beat a certain time.

On a side note: I wish I could go by the women's standards! Would be so easy

Careful Aaron.... I do believe there are more women here. You may run into us someday. And just because the standards seem easier doesn't mean we can't do more than they ask for. (though I do not excel at running either).

I was just talking about the running times.

I know many women that can outrun me - any time, any place. Just wished the time to shoot for was the same since the running portion is what is killing my score at the moment.

I'd be passing by a good margin according to the female's running times vs. failing on the men's.
