Hello, this post might look silly but I really need to know~I'm a new grad, have very limited experience, and is looking for work. Is there a program/course where I can learn urinary catheterization and wound care? Or are they learned during your work? I mean, they're taught in school but if you haven't practice in real people and it took you forever to find a job, then there's a reason to upgrade/enhance skills. So I wonder if there's such things just like venipuncture courses. Please let me know! thanks=3
by the way, im from ontario.
any info will help:)

Do you have clinical nurse educators on the units in Ontario? They would be a good resource if you do.
sorry i missed the looking for work part! Maybe going over your skills textbook again, and also if there are video and online components these would also be good. If you do get a job you can then talk to someone about practicing skills on a unit
Thanks for the response! :) I am not really sure about it, i mean since i dont have much experience, and is applying for a job,,they would want someone who can already do it rather than someone who needs to be trained... so I was thinking if there's a refresher course or something,...but anyways, thank you!:)

If you take a course, you would not become more competent with the skill because you would be practising on mannequins, not real people.

You would get hands on experience once you started working.
I see,i hope they give me a chance! Thanks:)

Hi there,
I was following your old thread about your past employer and glad your looking for another job. I'm in a similar position as I am a new grad RN in Ontario but have very limited experience and would like to start doing those courses as well. If you ever find something let me know. :)

I think smith and nephew has a wound care academy online module. Teaches you how to assess wounds etc.
