Okay i'm still pretty much a new grad so i'm just not sure about this.
I am working for a travel company/locum tenens, They are providing malpractice insurance 1 and 3mil annual.
The certificate copy they gave me says Insured: is "my company"
, by CNA and at the bottom it says, "coverage applies for the referenced professional while working for or on behalf of the Insured. This certificate only applies to Neelia emtneel NP." Also states at bottom that the certificate holder is "University bla bla" which is my actual work place..
My question, is this enough coverage? is this really covering me or my company??
I am willing to fork out the 1100-1300$ on monday to buy my own coverage but if this is adequate i'd really not since i've been off work for 2+ months..
Thanks for prompt reply!

Since you're just starting out, I think the more important question is whether the malpractice insurance policy includes tail coverage. Most malpractice insurance policies nowadays are "claims-made" coverage, meaning, the insurance will only protect you for claims made during the term the policy is in effect. You and I know that "bad things" can haunt you years after you've left the practice or have found a new job. The tail coverage protects you in those instances.
well, my company says they can't purchase a tail until i am finished with the assignment, but yes they said they purchase a tail...
But either way, do i need to buy additional coverage? Or does that seem like I am actually covered not just my company.

And...the insurance that you get from your employer is just that...for the employer. Personally, I have always carried my own malpractice because I like having MY lawyers.

I also recommend having your own policy in addition to insurance provided by your company.
