UPenn MSN 2016

Hi all,

After lots of looking through threads here on AN (and I mean, lots , :specs:) I wasn't able to find a thread for MSN applicants recently accepted to UPenn (start date, summer 2016!)- so I decided to start one.

I was recently accepted into the Adult-Gerontology Primary Care Nurse Practitioner Program and am looking to connect with my future cohort!

So, I'm applying for the FNP program full time. It seems like all of you have already submitted your applications. Am I terribly behind the curve? the FNP deadline appears to be March 15 for Fall 2016 matriculation.

I believe a lot of the MSN programs have a start date of summer 2016 i.e Adult-Gero Primary Care, Adult-Gero Acute Care, Women's Health etc. with exception of the FNP program.

Your timing is excellent for March 2016- the earlier, the better (plus, according to their website, it can take up to 6 weeks for your transcripts to arrive at the School of Nursing). I've had a lot of success (not only with UPenn), but with other schools applying wayyy before the deadline.

I emailed the director of the acute care np program bc she has emailed me previously- I asked when we could expect a decision.

Have you heard back from the Program Director?

You know, I've read on past threads that calling the nursing admissions office is sort of useless because no one answered or returned calls, but the couple of times I've called, I've always gotten to speak to someone immediately.....maybe try calling?

I received an email today that said my application has been moved to the summer 2016 term to keep it active for review. Anyone else been told this? Has anyone been given a decision yet?

Hey all! I'm so happy to finally find a UPenn MSN 2016 thread! I've applied to the WHNP program to start full-time this summer. I submitted my application January 15th and have an interview coming up this Tuesday! Very excited but also nervous. Does anyone who has already interviewed have any tips? Any other WHNP friends out here?

Has anyone heard anything else recently? When should we expect admissions decisions for summer entry? I received an email saying my application would move on in the review process, and I've tried reaching out to the admissions office but have never gotten ahold of anyone.

I received acceptance to the full time program for FNP as well except they want me to start this summer part-time and take a research class.... is this what your checklist on the app portal states as well?

Yeah it is. I heard about it at the open house two weekends ago; it's a pilot program that allowed them to add 6 more spots into the FT program. My understanding is that there will be an online vs on campus option. I'll be doing mine online so that I can continue working until the FT program begins in the fall. Congrats!
