UPenn 18 month Accelerated Nursing Program

U.S.A. Pennsylvania

Published

I'm interested in applying to Penn's 18 month Accelerated Nursing Program; however, there is so much work involved I want to make sure it's worth the effort!

Are there any Penn nursing students/graduates who could share their experiences in the program? Has anyone heard bad or good things about the program? Also, how competitive is the program (i.e.: what's the admission rate, class size, avg. GPA, etc.)?

Thanks for the help!

yes, i got the email today as well :)

I registered and got a confirmation online for the interview, but haven't received a confirmation of the time. Did you guys have to call Fimomena to schedule the interview time?

no confirmation either. i'm of the impression that we plan for the whole day-long shindig and expect an interview somewhere in there. anyone coming in on sunday and staying somewhere?

i don't own a suit and am hesitant on buying one. but i guess i should. any other FNP applicants applicants excited/nervous? any one know of any threads from prior years on the process?

After I registered for the FNP interview, I got a confirmation email from Filomena saying that we would receive a detailed email 2 weeks prior to the interview day that tells us the time of our interview and the agenda for the day. The email said to plan on being there from 9am to 3pm. Interviews will be in the morning or afternoon and there will be lunch and an information session from noon-2pm.

I'm applying to the FNP track as well. I'm flying in from LA on Sunday and leaving Monday. I'm staying at the Club Quarters Hotel. I'm really excited about exploring the campus. It seems like a great orientation-type day they have set up for our interview day. As for the interview questions, I haven't yet been able to find any previous threads, but I'm sure they will ask "Why nursing," "Why FNP?" and "What are your strengths and weaknesses?"

Have any of you had interviews with other schools yet?

i've only applied to two--JHU and Penn. Emory's isn't due for another 2 months. I vaguely remember reading about group interviews. Surely there's another member who is interviewing for one of the other specialties--aren't they already interviewing?

This day is great. I missed the open house this past weekend, which I had been looking forward to until I got the interview notice and saw that I could kill 2 birds with 1 stone.

more searching through threads and all the possible ways that someone could talk about penn (university of pennsylvania, penn, upenn, u penn, u of p, u of penn)

Is anyone else doing their interview over the phone? I can't get away (full-time work, part-time student) in December, but I emailed Filomena to let her know I would like to do the interview over the phone. No response yet, and not sure what next steps are. Hoping someone will let me know soon!

I am also applying BSN/MSN - FNP.

Good luck to all!

i have a micro final that day, and i'm extremely broke so i'm thinking i may have to phone interview as well. but i'm waiting a week to see if my finances and my academics are all straightened out so i dont mess up.

Hi Amojo99,

Do you have a phone interview scheduled? I have not heard from anyone yet about how to schedule it.

Thanks!

i haven't scheduled one yet. i was going to wait a week before i officially pulled out of interview day.

got my hotel and my rental car, and i'll be driving in from pittsburgh next sunday. i'm excited to see the campus, see my future fellow classmates, and learn more about the program. a bit nervous about the interview though. it has to be a group interview, right? i dont know what others' schedules stated, but unless they have like very quick interviews, how could they fit all of us in?

Glad you will be there Amojo. I will be there too and am excited to participate in the activities. The interview seems short so I hope it is not a group interview so that we can have the whole half hour to ourselves. I really hope I can effectively present myself and my desire and potential to be an amazing nurse!
