  1. Hi jiwonkim. The prereqs are confusing, so much so that I can't answer your question. I strongly recommend you contact the admissions office and get a transcript evaluation so that you are sure of what you've completed and what you still have to take. This is a great thing to do at each of the schools are planning to apply to.
  2. The University of Pennsylvania provides great need-based financial aid. The aid depends on your need, which depends on whether you are considered a dependent of your parents, your personal financial situation, etc. But if you are accepted and demonstrate need, you will get $!
  3. So who went to the accepted students day yesterday?? I would have loved to have gone, but was not able. I would really appreciate hearing report of anything interesting! Thanks!
  4. I just received my Plan of Study via email 15 min ago. I assume your's is on its way!
  5. Marinara, The whole married thing does complicate manners. I would try hard to get that worked out with Financial Aid, it is worth every bit of effort you have to put into it. I hope you find a program that is economical for you (and that you are excited to attend).
  6. Congratulations Amojo!!! I will see you at the chat tonight.
  7. Ooh! thanks for bringing up the Penn v. Hopkins discussion Marinara. I am leaning towards Penn, but mostly because I expect to receive a lot of grant money from them and dont have the same expectations from Hopkins. Does anyone know if Hopkins gives need-based grants?? Penn is overall more expensive b/c its a longer program (kinda annoying they dont lay out the exact cost like Hopkins does, I just multiplied the academic year costsX2, even though its overshooting a little), but even if I got the half-tuition scholarship from Hopkins, Penn will be much cheaper for me. Also, I think Penn makes it really easy to get excited about going there, b/c they are so organized and give you so much information. Hopkins should really give us financial aid info before they ask us to accept. Maybe I should contact them for more info... I feel like I am not giving them the benefit of the doubt. On the other hand I am attracted to Hopkins' focus and strength in global and community health.
  8. I want to go to the accepted students day if you all are! But its so far away from North Carolina and I will probably need to come up in a couple months to look for apts.... Oh well, have fun and fill me in when you get back. Thanks!
  9. Hey Grig, I wouldnt worry about the financial aid package yet. Mine hasnt been updated yet and still shows me responsible for everything and I KNOW thats not right, b/c i made very little money the last couple of years. I think they are still making their way through our financial aid plans, they gave themselves a couple weeks to do it. Amojo, I read this transcript of a chat for newly accepted BSN students that they had last year. It had a lot of good info in it. work study came up a few times. http://www.nursing.upenn.edu/students/OSI/Documents/AcceptedAcceleratedBSNChatlog02-2009.pdf There is a chat scheduled for this Tues night too...
  10. Congratulations to all who got in! I did too! Excited to hear about the FNP part, but I won't be too upset if I don't get into it right now. I am just so happy to have somewhere to go for the BSN portion. Somewhere awesome!
  11. Hi all. Just out of curiosity, does anyone have a contact at JHUSON admissions that they can reach out to and ask for an update on when decisions for Summer 2010 (regular decision) will be made? I tried to get in touch with the person I interviewed with, but was unsuccessful and the person who answers the main admissions phone gave me very general info, saying we should hear by the end of Feb at latest. I can survive the wait, but if anyone has an "in" I'd love to have better info. Thanks! Hope you are all weathering the wait alright!
  12. Ahhh! is right. Thanks and good luck to you too!
  13. I got that email and it just about gave me a heart attack!! I appreciate the email and the deadline though. Only one more week until part of our destiny unfolds...
  14. Interesting...I called last week and was told that on (maybe by) 2/1/10 we would recieve an email telling us that decisions had been made and posted to our portal. Then we could check the portal to see if we are in or not. I was also told that we would recieve notification via snail mail, but that the portal would be the quickest way to find out. I guess all we know is the end is near! How suspenseful!!
  15. Hi! I too am waiting to hear from Hopkins. I interviewed on 12/22 for the BSN-MSN (FNP) and the guy I interviewed with told me I should hear by mid-late January. I hope I don't have to wait too much longer!
