Hi there,
I was surprised there wasn't already a thread for those applying to UPenn's direct entry program since the threads from previous years were so active, so I thought I would start one where this year's applicants could gather. :)
I'm just hoping to get to know some other applicants so we can support each other through this nerve wracking process! My name is Michelle and I am applying for the Nurse Anesthesia specialty, I'm in the process of working on my personal statement. Any others out there?
Hello everyone!
I reread the initial confirmation email regarding our interview, and it states that we should have received a detailed itinerary 2 weeks before our interview. Newmy123, I haven't received mine yet. Has anyone received theirs? I hope it won't be too difficult to speak with someone from the admissions office regarding the email, seeing as my interview is 5 days away!
Hi!
I'll be heading to Penn next Monday, December 3rd for the Women's Health interview. I also haven't received an itinerary but am assuming we'll receive one in the next few days.
Does anyone know if it's appropriate to bring someone with you during the interview tour (i.e. parent, fiance, etc.)? I have someone traveling with me and am hoping he can join me on the campus tour/student Q&A session/etc.
Good luck everyone :)
hi newmy123 - i can't think of anything else to recommend, other than to get your rest and try not to let your nerves get the best of you. in fact, i highly recommend doing something relaxing the night before - meditation, hot shower, tea, etc. in nursing we love integrative care!
alixv33 - at my interview last year, i remember one girl being there with her father. most people came by themselves, but i'm sure it would be fine to bring someone with you for the tour and information session.
as for a schedule, really don't fret about it too much. last year, interviewees were assigned either a morning or afternoon interview slot and the middle portion of the day consisted of an information session, tour of the campus and school, and lunch with current students and faculty members. i think the earliest interview started at 8 or 8:30, and the last interviews wrapped up no later than 4 or 5.
good luck to all! i'll be on campus during interview days so maybe i'll see some of you. :)
Hi newmy, I'm not sure if they will have a place for you to store your things. If you're staying at a hotel, they usually will hold your luggage for you in a safe place for the day even after you check out. You might be able to leave your things in the auditorium, but I don't know how secure they'd be. Meaning, the doors wouldn't be locked and anyone could walk in, but I haven't heard of any thefts in the SON building either. I'm in the PNP specialty. Good luck on Friday!
Hey all! I am a current ABSN/MSN student at UPenn, on cohort ahead of the one you have applied for. It was a pleasure meeting some of you at the interview today! I hope you all got a lot out of it. If you have any more questions or if you would like to chat to some more current students, feel free to contact me or post questions here and I will try my best to address them! I am on track for the Peds Acute Care NP. Good luck!

Thanks so much for your words of encouragement, @sarahcee. I haven't felt nervous throughout this whole process…until now! I'm interviewing on Friday, December 6th and have no idea what to expect! How do you recommend best preparing for the interview? I've gone through some of the basic questions like why nursing, why your specialty, why Penn, etc.
Good luck for finals!
Also, has anyone received a more detailed itinerary yet? Keeping my fingers crossed for everyone!
