update on ATS nursing school

Published

hello all i did a lot of research and from what i can see the post about this school are old. Well i went on a visit the other day and what i can tell you is that i have mixed emotions about the school. Lets start with location. yes its downtown and easy to get to but that breeze coming off that lake. O Gawd!!!!! secondly to me it looks more of a business arrangement than a school when i walked in the building im like o my its a school here. when i got to the second floor it just looked like a lot of office space with papers on that door that read classroom1, classroom2 humm i was kinda shocked. The guy at the desk was quick to get me from in front of the desk area as he ushered me through some doors to speak with someone about enrolling. Here's where i kinda felt like this wasnt a fit for me. For starters i wanted to know about transferring my credits into the school. (i have all my pre reqs for what ever program i get in) needless to say i was told that i would still have to take their placement test and if i didnt score high enough on their english i would have to retake it with them. i explained that i had taken english 101 and passed. the lady told me that if it wasnt taken in the last year they wouldnt take it. Now im looking at her like what the heck you talking about. when did their become a time limit on english? i let her continue bascially it boild down to me transferring my a&p in if i scored high enough on their science placement. to me that sealed the deal. then she went on to say that if my classes were accepted then that would cut my program from 16 months to 12 months. No books, uniforms, patches and a whole lot of other stuff are not included in the tuition. so the brake down she gave me was the program would run between 28k to 30k.........yikes..............for a lpn program nawl i will pass on that. thats just toooooooooooooooooooooo much money. so im back at the table looking for a school to attend. if you have any suggestions please feel free to contact me.

Try pccti downtown on Jackson it's 12 month's, you only need a CNA license and anatomy and physiology and pass the teas with a 40 .the only thing is they are verry unorganized to the fullest smh

Why would I want to do that if you saying they unorganized I can't deal

PCCTI isn't the best school but its definitely not the worse either. You just have to be willing to keep track of your own paperwork and you have to be able to study and teach yourself because half the teacher are pretty worthless. at the end of the day though pccti is at 100% nclex and putting out students who were willing to earn their license also theyre only 20k for their program

You're right & that is definitely too much money b/c you can get an RN from community college for $6,000. Have you considered going for your RN instead of LPN at a community college? I know at some schools like Moraine Valley, they offer the LPN course during the summer after you complete the first two semesters of the RN program. So the total cost for an LPN from cc would be just over $3,000.

ive been trying to get in triton program for 2 years they go by a point system and im lacking about 2 points so my app gets pushed out. im not sure but i dont think pccti is a good fit for me. for one i am not into paying all that money and not getting the proper education that im paying for so its like im paying to teach myself no way.........i looked into nwiht, northbrook nursing school but im still going to try triton again.

Babygirl you can check these:

All American Nursing in Alsip,Il. School is fairly new but they been offering cna classes, the LPN class starts in March. Pre reqs are included in tuition,no transfer of courses unfortunately :(. No cna certification is needed. 15 month program(morning) and you have to score a 78 on the Hesi exam(math, reading, vocab, grammar). Im taking my exam mid January.

If you dont have those they will offer that starting in Jan. If its a c average and taken in the last 5 years you can transfer it in...Hesi exam is also needed before acceptance. Scholarships are available for around 3000 off lpn course last time I checked. Im very close to school so will see what else I can find out.

I left another one out lol Ambria College in Hoffman Estates is one that accepts financial aid (pell and loans). No waiting list and Pre reqs needed are: Psy,Math for Nurses (dosage calculation),Eng 101,A&P and Intro to Computers. Classes start in Jan/May and Sept. There is 60 slots available per start date. They also have the LPN to RN program and just added the RN to BSN for 2014. NCLEX pass rate for LPN is 90% RN is 100% Job Placement is 98%.

I'm looking into ALL AMERICAN NURSING SCHOOL. Would you be able to give me a little more info? BestMed Care as well!

Hello FutureNurseMini

Not too much info from what was stated because they both are new schools and it will be their 1st class this year. Best Med class has been pushed back to August and pre reqs will start in May. Tuition is the same as above,no financial aid but loans and payment plans are accepted. I believe they will only have morning classes to start off. All American Nursing offers pre reqs within the program so its 15 months, and class starts March 24th so $1,000 deposit will be due upon passing the Hesi. Tuition is still the same and morning classes as well. Remember both are fairly new as far as the LPN classes goes so just keep that in mind, their websites are below if you want to check them out,and by all means contact them to inquire about the program so more. They both are

Licensed Practical Nursing (LPN) :: BestMed-Care Institute

LPN Program :: All American Nursing School

Another option is PCCTI they have days evenings and weekend start dates, financial aid is available. that is what I'm leaning on at the moment so I can still work. Next session is 6/02 and it's days 10am-2pm with clinicals on Wednesdays or Evening session in August.

LPN Program | PCCTI :: Healthcare School :: Chicago / Oak Brook, Illinois :: Advance your professional career with us

I would suggest leaving All-American alone. Unprofessional and very unorganized. I went to sign up for their cna program. Total waste of time.
