Upcoming NCLEX RN advice

Published

Hello everyone,

I take my NCLEX RN on July 1, 2009, I have been using Kaplan q bank and q trainers I finished all of them. On question trainer 6= 68% q trainer 7 62%. I used up all my q bank at 100% any suggestions on what I should be doing now???:wink2: I am nervous by this being my second time around. Any suggestions on SATA??

Thanks all help and suggestion are appreciated!!

Kaplan does give a money back guarantee or you can sit for another class. I don't think they offer it more than once because they figure they can give you the tools to take the test, but if you don't know your content it's not going to help you if you sit there and take the course 50x. They don't want to waste their time or yours. They teach you test taking not content.

That sounds reassuring!! only 2 more days until i test, I hope to just relax tommorrow, since I been studying, and studying!!!! I am ready to get this out of the way

I think it's always a good sign when you you've studied so much that you're ready to get it out of the way. Best of luck to you--you can do it! You're ready.

does kaplans strategies really do work including the tree? like similar answers should be eliminated and chose between the other two etc etc etc. i have the book and it just gets confusing and takes time to do?

did this strategy work for you on your exam???

i need all the tips i can get. thank you

I took the NClex 3 times years ago and gave up. Decided to give it another try and failed. I did take the Kaplan course and I did use the pointers the teacher gave us and part of the tree. I passed on my 5th try which was a month after my Kaplan course. It helps with test taking strategies, but you have to know your content otherwise it won't work. I learned a few things and I liked the class even though it was long.

I didn't take the course, but I got the book and read all of the strategies. I scored considerably worse when trying to implement a strategy. My advice would be to only fall back on a strategy if you have no idea what the answer is. If you can think your way through it, that is the way to go. Try to work through the question with all of the information that you have. If you still have no idea, then consider using a strategy. I took the nclex on monday and passed. I had one question that for sure did not work with the similar vs different straegy. I knew the answer and it was not the different one.

This of course is just my opinion. Every one is different. Knowledge before strategy!!!! That is my motto!
