Upcoming interview, should I mention...

absences? The interview is for a different position at my hospital. I've had three absences (one was lengthy r/t pneumonia) in a year and I don't want it to hurt my chances. My instinct is to discuss them with the director of the department during my interview.

Any recommendations?

Why would you bring up your own negatives? If asked about them be forthright and compensate with what you are doing to prevent future absences. Otherwise no, don't bring it up.

My thought was that she knows about them and I wanted to tell her what changes I've made to help correct the problem. I've been wrong before though!

Do yourself a huge favor and don't bring this up. You can't predict when you will be hospitalized.

No, you should never bring up something that would give them a reason to choose someone else. Plenty of people out there that are willing to chop off your feet. No need to shoot yourself in said feet first.

Never volunteer any information that isnt specifically asked for! Especially if it might hurt your chances!

Maybe they know about it, realize things like that happen, and don't see it as a problem, and wont ask. Maybe they don't know about it all. Dont bring it up yourself!

But if they do ask, you had a good point about admitting there were issues, why they happened, and what you are doing to fix them. No one's perfect, but being able to own up to your faults, and show tangibly what you're doing about it, really says a alot about you. Good Luck!
