Hi everyone,
It seems like there's no forum for uoft 2023 intake, so here I am to start one. Let's get through the admission journey together! Feel free to share any updates on your admission process, and please share your experiences, backgrounds and questions!
Esha B said:@mikalexia I'm in third year as well and haven't heard back. I was just wondering what your stats are? and your experience?
I will say that my grades are not very spontaneous. My current cGPA is 3.3, with a couple of C's in my transcript. I completed 19 prerequisite courses with my lowest being statistics (C+), and I have 3 more courses to finish to fulfill the 10.0 FCE requirement.
I believe that my personal statement and work experience is what helped my application. I currently work at CAMH as a Program Assistant, I did an 8-month placement at SickKids hospital for my CYC program, I worked at a YMCA daycare, and for a couple of years I worked at a residential group home for cognitively challenged children. I emphasized in my personal statement that these experiences basically ignited my interest in mental health nursing and pediatric nursing.
I work with other UofT nursing students and got their input on how they got in. A lot of them said that your grades are important, but the personal statement and experience is what really makes you stand out from other applicants.
At this point I'm hoping to just make it to the finish line by keeping my grade up with at least a B+, which is what the conditional offer states.
Rrrrrr said:Congrats to everyone that received an offer! Just wondering for those if you that got admitted to UofT, did your status ever changed to under-review before you receive the offer? Mine has been "application received" since December.
Mine literally said "application received" and then "Offer" with nothing in between. I remember last year it said "under review", but mine didn't this year.

When I got into Mac lifesci I got in with an 87 and my conditional was an 87, they later dropped it to 85 - probably one of the most stressful couple months of my life.
You've got this!!
I spoke with one of the deans, she really made it seem like they care a lot about soft skills and although clinical experiences are valuable, they're really looking for diversity.
Hi! I applied to Western's accelerated nursing program for Fall 2023 admission. I meet the admission average and I scored in the fourth quartile for the CASPER test, however, I don't have the anatomy prerequisite. I was enrolled in a full year anatomy course that was set to be complete in April, but due to significant hardships I underwent in my Fall 2022 semester, my grade was not my best. I thought that I could bring up my mark during the Winter semester but there wasn't enough course weight for me to achieve the grade I want (it would have impacted my GPA). Therefore, I withdrew myself from the course last month and I am now enrolled to take it this Summer.
I filled out the special consideration form explaining my circumstances and hoping that they will still consider me for admission and use my Summer grades for anatomy.
Has anyone else been through the same experience? What do you guys think my chances of admission are? or the chances of them allowing me to fulfil the prerequisite over the Summer?
I also applied to UofT and McMaster!

I'd say the chances of them waiting for you to finish over the Summer are slim...but that's only one potential solution. I mean it also depends on when you would finish.
I know anatomy is a pretty strict prerequisite course, but there are a bunch of things you can try to help make your case. UofT (and I'm assuming other schools) have a list of topics that need to be covered in the course to be considered equivalent to the anatomy prereq. Before I took UofT's compressed physiology course, I figured out that all of the material in the list was covered in a mixture of courses I had already taken so I could have probably had the prerequisite waived. I took the course anyway because I thought it would be a good idea. So I'd look into your previous courses and see where anatomy/phys topics have maybe been covered.
If you can demonstrate that you do know the material and that you have a good chance of succeeding in the program, I don't see why they wouldn't consider you.
@curly I agree, I know my chances of them allowing me to take it in the Summer is slim. I have taken a full year course in physiology as well (that's also a prerequisite). Although I don't have the anatomy credit, I was still enrolled in it from September 2022 to March 2023, and therefore I did all the work and still studied the content. I was just not in the right mindset to write the exams (death in the family twice, during both midterms and finals), which made my overall grade suffer and even if I did my best this semester I wouldn't have been able to bring it up to a good mark as mentioned in my previous post. I go to UofT now and they have a bunch of course exclusions (courses that are similar to each other) and unfortunately I don't have one that overlaps with anatomy.
I think my best bet is to complete it over the Summer and hope that they will still consider my application.

I'm so sorry for your losses - I know how hard it can be to get through school at the same time.
I'm wondering if you might be able to use your grade from before you withdrew as some evidence that you know the material. I was in the SCS phys course when I applied and we just had to upload our "expected" grade, and I included screenshots of all of the quiz scores up to that point.
I wonder if theres an equivalent course you could do in the Spring? I feel like a Spring course they'll be able to wait for you.
@curly Thank you - It was quite rough to deal with it while also having to focus on exams.
I have good quiz scores throughout the time I was taking the course, but I did not perform well on the midterm or the final due to my losses. Unfortunately they each occurred around exam time. I included the dates when I submitted my special consideration form so they would be able to see it affected my exam grades. Because of these bad marks in the first semester, it was pulling my overall grade down so I dropped it before any other assessments as they weren't enough to bring my mark up.
For some reason, UofT doesn't offer anatomy from May to end of June. Instead the course begins in early May and ends in August. I guess its because of how much content there is to learn in anatomy.
Do you know whether there are any other universities that offer Spring anatomy courses and whether it would be accepted?
When filling out the special consideration form, I mentioned that I am enrolled in a Summer anatomy course at UofT. There wasn't much space to ask questions on what my other options could be.
Hi all,
I received my offer to U of T on March 31st. The conditions of my acceptance according to the offer letter are (a) that I maintain a C- (!) in all my prereq courses and (b) that all post-secondary transcripts are received by July 15th. My initial understanding was that prereqs were supposed to be completed with transcripts delivered to U of T by May 31 per their website and I've been killing myself to finish the A&P prereq through Athabasca (it's insane), but it doesn't state that anywhere in the actual offer letter. Does anybody know if I now have until July 15 to finish the course??
