Unsure about changing from ECPI to NVCC for Fall 2009

]Ok so I have this current dilema i'm dealing with, I'm currently going to ECPI (LPN) and that school is so unorganized with clinicals. There are times when we've had to have multiple clinicals at nursing homes b/c they couldn't put us anywhere else. The tuition there is 25,500 for an 18 mo LPN program, yes it is so overpriced. Now i'm seeing all these LPN programs out for soooo much less! A couple of classmates of mine and I, were thinking of switching to NVCC. I'm scared of pulling out of the program and dealing with the same at another school. Someone help:bugeyes:! I really am interested in the momentum 2+1, but I haven't gotten my high school transcript mailed to me yet.:heartbeat

I'm in the Traditional Adn--RN program at NVCC and I have no big complaints. The cost is far cheaper at NVCC than the program you mentioned above. head to http://www.nvcc.edu/ and in the search box, type in RN program and you will find a lot of info. Keep in mind it is competitive to get in, so its not a gimme. Best of luck

The momentum 2+1 is an ADN program. And since you now have college credit you may have to get approved by the dean to apply for the 2+1 program because you are supposed to have little to no college credit. The program brochure says "This program is for students who have no prior college credit and are attending college for the first time."

I don't think NVVC has a LPN program. They have a LPN to RN program, but one obtains the LPN from another school. I could be wrong, but I did a very quick search on the NVC website, and didn't see a LPN course

I dont want to do an LPN program if I transfer it'll just be a waste of time. I read all about the momentum program and my credits from ECPI wont transfer, so i'm good in that department. I just gotta do well on the entrance exam:uhoh21:

Have you taken all the pre reqs that are required for NOVA? You can't apply until all/or most of them are done. That may be one thing that will hold you back.

I wouldn't do a LPN program if I were you. It's just not worth all the money that you are paying to get the degree. Most hospitals don't accept LPNs and out on the Units LPNs don't get the same respect or money as RNs. I would just do what ever I have to do to get into NOVA's program. The degree is well worth it and so much cheaper :).

I was talking about the regular ADN program. I forgot the OP was talking about the momentum program. I also didn't realize you don't have to take pre req's for the Momentum program.

i was thinking about starting the ecpi program starting the 23rd. Is it really so bad? i also hear their starting a RN program this fall as well. Nova takes way to long to get in and Im just not willing to wait threw applying and the deadlines. Plus like someone above said it is very competitive. Is there any info you could give me on ecpi that would be helpful to me?

I almost bought a car at ECPI, I mean paid for tuition, :lol2:. It was wierd because when I told them I changed my mind, they closed the door and asked me what I was going to do with my life, as if ECPI would be my only chance at having a decent life,:icon_roll. I am glad I switched to NVCC and I am now in the Momentum program. I also got in with all but two support courses completed.
