Unsupportive spouse?

Anyone starting or in Nursing School and their spouse isn't supportive? My husband is trying to ruin me going to school from ever angle. Anyone else dealt with or dealing with this? He makes it nearly impossible for me to go to class without an argument and we have 3 children so he always uses them as an excuse.

Did you get through nursing school? Just curious. I am getting ready to start as an older person who waited until my kids were grown. Even so I still wont have my husband's emitional support. He doesnt get it but I will still proceed and let chips fall whete they may

My advice is to leave him. If he isn't supporting you now than why do you think he ever would in the future?

I just wanted to update anyone who was curious because I hate reading old posts and never knowing what happened LOL. I did end up going to nursing school in 2015 but ended up withdrawing after my first semester because I became pregnant with my 3rd child and overwhelmed by my reality. My spouse was gone a lot during this time on deployments until 2016. I decided to go back and became pregnant again with my 4th child LOL shortly after the 4th was born I went back to pursue an engineering degree and decided to work toward medical school.

I quickly realized I would be 45 when finishing residency and changed back to nursing with a goal of CRNA. After finishing all my prereqs and raising my 1.67 GPA to 3.57 I was able to finally apply to my nursing program. So now here we are in 2020 and I am awaiting my results from my local nursing program this October.

Husband and I are still married, 10 years now. He's extremely supportive now which I am so grateful for. There were a lot of reasons he wasn't supportive but it ultimately boiled down to him being immature and us being under a lot of stress being young parents to so many young kids and barely keeping our heads above water individually. We were both unhappy with ourselves and blamed and resented each other and that definitely manifested itself in other ways. After counseling a third time and him realizing his abusive traits and behavior, I am happy to report everything is 1000% better now. We have put in lots of work to get to where we are today!

I am glad I ended up delaying my entry to the nursing program by 5 years because I truly believe I would have failed had I gone through back then. I've grown and matured over the last 5 years, all of our children are in school beginning this year as well as my husband and I so we have a busy household. I feel more prepared and put together then I did back then. Rereading this post and my replies actually made me cringe at some points LOL. I'm so thankful for those who replied with understanding and actual concern and insight.
