Unsupportive spouse?
My advice is to leave him. If he isn't supporting you now than why do you think he ever would in the future?

RN-BSN Student Knows Too Much
Just do the work that is expected of you. BSN classes cover a lot of the material you already covered in your ADN. You are paying to be there just do the work. If you make a big deal about it you will just get written up, flunk, or get expelled. No reason to be dramatic.

Charge Sheet
Recently my facility is trying to introduce a charge sheet for any procedures the nurse preforms. I have never heard of this before. I wanted to upload a picture of one but I couldn't. Basically if we do one of these procedures we mark in on the sheet so that they can charge the patient for it. I don't know anything about billing but I didn't think it worked this way. Examples of things it has on there include insert midline CAVH-D Blood Glucose via Clucometer ACT Test Collect Blood from PICC Wound Care Remove chest tube Is this a common thing at other facilities? What I find weird it that is was a new member of administration who is pushing us to do this not the billing department.

Stepdown / IMU
I work at a medium size hospital and I am in the critical care float pool. Occasionally I float to the intermediate care / stepdown unit. My history is in the SICU so everytime I go over there it is kind of a shock. It is a 14 bed unit with a ration of 1:3 or 1:4. Patient's are not on a monitor but sometimes have tele and/or have continuous pulse ox on them. Vitals are done every 4 hours. Is this normal for other IMU/stepdown units? Patients not being on monitors and only doing vitals Q4 Is there a difference between IMU, stepdown, and progressive care? My facility uses the terms interchangeably. I just don't think the unit is safe. Any research or guidelines for IMU/PCU/stepdown units you are aware of?

BSN degree seems off topic
A lot of people I know call the BSN degree a B.S. nursing degree if you get my point. Throughout my my BSN program I have felt that many of the classes were not truly nursing related. I don't think that classes such transcultural nursing is important enough of a 4 credit hour class when we could be learning more about subjects such as pharmacology or advanced nursing skills. Basically I think that the classes offered in the BSN programs are just not important enough to dedicate an entire semester worth of work to. Must nurses will agree that they only get their BSN so they can apply for ARNP/CRNA school or because they want a job away from patient care. Does anyone else agree with me? What are your thoughts about the BSN?

Help with a oz to mil question please
The nurse calculates Mary's intake and output (I&O) for the shift. Mary has had 24 ounces of water, 8 ounces of apple juice, and three 4-ounce cartons of milk. She received 50 mL of IV fluids per hour for the last 12 hours and had a urinary output of 1200 mL, plus one episode of wetting the bed. What is Mary's total intake for this shift? I tried this problem and got 1901.2ml but it was wrong. I also tried 1902ml, 1901ml. Can anyone help explain to me what I did wrong and help me solve it? I have no idea what I could be doing wrong. The answer must be in milliliters.

Why become an RN to do computer work?
I have been a floor nurse for 5 years. I don't understand your comment. I have been a nurse for years but I admit I know nothing about informatics. The few people I have met who work in that field were completely dissociated from any kind of floor nursing work. They didn't really understand the actual day to day priorities. I just don't think it is really nursing so I don't understand why someone would need a nursing license to do the job.

Why become an RN to do computer work?
No offense to anyone but I don't understand the point of going to nursing school attaining an RN or even BSN only to work in computers. It seems like a lot of work to to become a nurse then not use the license.

Milliunit to min?
My class is having to do case studies on the Evolve program. We haven't covered anything similar to this in class. I have never even seen mu/min before. Can anyone explain to me how to do this? After the nurse establishes IV placement, she collects a bag of D5LR for the oxytocin (Pitocin), which is available in 20 units in 1000 cc D5LR. The order from the health care provider is oxytocin (Pitocin) 2 mu/min to augment labor. Calculate the following drip rate for the oxytocin (Pitocin). (Enter the numerical value only. If rounding is required, round to the whole number.) I am not looking for just the answer or somebody to do my homework for me. I just want an explanation on how to find the answer. Thanks.
