I work in LTC.
A while back, I had a resident who often would ask me who was going to take care of "those kids", or she'd ask me to make sure I fed "those two boys, especially the little one".
Since this was somewhat unusual for her, I told the nurse that my resident was seeing 2 little boys that weren't there. The nurse told me that she wasn't the first to "see" these little boys.
Last night, a fairly new resident to our unit reported seeing a little kid run into the room across the hall and she was worried what he was doing in there by himself.....There were no little children on our unit....
Apparently we have 2 little (ghost)boys who live on our unit. One of which always appears very thin and hungry. Many of our residents over the years have seen them, usually weeks before they themselves pass away.
All the residents that have seen them have dementia. They all have asked staff to feed "the boys (or kids) and asked specfically to feed the "little one". Some have even refused to eat their own food because "the boys need to eat!".
I did some research since I am somewhat new to the area. I learned that about 50 yrs ago, two little boys, a 5 yr old and a 3 yr old (brothers)drowned in a lake just down the road from the nursing home. The lake has since been filled in and is now a park.
Anyone else have such a story?

I used to work at a ritzy boarding school for teenagers with mental health needs. The facility was an old ski resort, and most of the staff reported "encounters," especially late at night. I never experienced anything in my little nursing office, but it was roundly accepted that we had unseen residents :)
Love stories like this!

I had a few residents talk about the "little boys under my bed", one lady even insisted I leave food for them. I worked with dementia patients so I always humored them but I thought it was strange because the residents only reported the boys in a certain room.....anyway, I always tried to enter their reality. It worked well for everyone involved.
