UNLV SON Spring 2014??

Published

Hi all, wondering if anyone is applying to the nursing program at UNLV for spring 2014? This kills me to ask; but if so, how many points do you have and what makes you want to be a nurse? Good luck to all those hopeful nurses out there☺☺☺

I hope there's not 120 applicants this time :nailbiting:. If you don't mind me asking, how many points did you apply with?

If I'm calculating correctly, I have about 91.4

Stay positive! If last semester was 90.3 for the cutoff with 120 applicants I don't think it will go much higher than that. Lots of people apply hoping the points will drop. Did they say what date they would start calling people?

I don't remember the specific date, but it was the second week in November. I'm anxious to hear how your signing session goes! It will be interesting to see how many people show up.

I hope we all get in :) I haven't met you yet, but I like you.

Me too! you seem awesome, will keep you posted if they say anything else on Friday. Wow it's gonna be a long 30 days

When I went on Oct 3rd, there were 10 people which included couple people that were reapplying. Also, I think the lady mentioned that we will hear from them by Nov 15 if we are in, then only on Nov 16th we can call and ask questions..I might be mistaken about the dates, but that's what I remember... Good luck everyone ;)

Thanks for the info! Good luck :)

I signed up for a signing session on OCT 18th but since I am currently in Chem 108, I only have 86 points :(

I'm hoping that by some miracle the cutoff has gone down and I can actually get in for the Spring cohort. But at any rate, if I don't make it into the Spring, I will have between 92-94 points for the Summer once I can factor in my current Chem 108 grade

Does anyone who has already attended a signing session know anything about what the cutoff might be this year?

Thanks for all of the help!!!

I attended the signing session on the 11th and he didn't say what the cutoff will be. It is probably too early since signing sessions go till the end of Oct. He did say that in the 7 years he has been there the falls cutoff at 90.3 something was the highest ever so good luck!

Hey everyone,

I am also applying for Spring 2014 start, and I talked to my counselor about a month ago and she said there were already over 120 applicants at that time. Likely most of the people who didn't get in for fall. Also, how are you guys calculating the HESI score? Is each category out of 100 points for a total of 400 possible? Good luck to all of you!

You calculate the hesi score by adding up the four categories percents and dividing by 8.75. For example,

100+100+100+100=400/8.75=45.7142857

So 45.7142857 is the most points you can get from the hesi test. You can also just take your total percent that you got on the hesi and multiply it by 45.7142857 to find out how many points you will get from hesi. For example, say you got an 88% overall on the hesi.

.88*45.7142857=40.2285714

40.2285714 is the points you got from the hesi
