UNLV SON Spring 2014??

Published

Hi all, wondering if anyone is applying to the nursing program at UNLV for spring 2014? This kills me to ask; but if so, how many points do you have and what makes you want to be a nurse? Good luck to all those hopeful nurses out there☺☺☺

I was planning on it, but my pre-requisites were not accepted as transferrable. :( So in the meantime, I've been looking at applying to other programs. Anyone else in the same boat?

Hello! Yes I am so anxious and excited to apply! It's been almost four years of pre-req's for me. I am finally ready with 92 points (as long as the cutoff is still 90 :). I love the idea of being a nurse because it's an opportunity to give back in life and there are lots of career options. How about you? Good luck!!

I have wanted to persue this career for a while:) I want to make a difference in the health care field by being a great quality nurse for those who are in need.. I have been in and out of hospitals seeing soo much since my fiancé is going through Stage 5 kidney failure for about a year now ... he was born with kidney disease and had to battle this for 28 years of his life..and I have learned soo much and seen soo much that I want to take part in helping people that the need understanding of what they are actually going through. I want to care for patients like I care for my fiancé. it breaks my heart to see people go through hell and I want to touch the lives of those who need that care and understanding since I have witnessed and been a part of that hardship that my fiancé is currently dealing with... I am soo ready for this and am hungry for more knowledge and change to bring to those who are in dire need of whatever they are going through!!Good luck to you as well! I sure do hope we all get accepted and bring nothing but health and happiness to others

Typo pursue *** lol

I am so sorry to hear about your situation! How lucky he is to have a loving person such as yourself :) I agree this world needs high quality nurses and can't wait to work with compassionate people. Are you done with your classes? What are your points looking like?

Yea no kidding!!! Haha and I have finished all of my classes my points aren't as rad as yours, I have 83.95 pts. Everything included... Feeling optimistic and positive ... Regardless of pts I know I have what it takes and I'm sure you do as well so whatever happens I'm okay with because I'm applying all over as well :)

thanks! You sound like you are ready and good luck, always stay positive!

Awe thank you lovely!! Good luck to you too we are both ready ! did I sign up for the sign in session?

I meant you, not I lol!

HI EVERYONE! Its so nice to see people so passionate applying to nursing school. I hope I get into the school. I want to be a nurse because I love helping people, working in a team, the medical field, and helping people adopt healthy lifestyle choices. I hope to become a nurse practitioner some day and open a clinic that focuses on preventive health care. This is my second time applying to the unlv nursing school. It also took me 4 years to finish my pre-reqs. Currently, I think my points add up to 92.2. I got a 93% on the hesi. I know the nursing school is getting more and more competitive every semester so I might retake the hesi to try and get a higher score. I don't know what I will do if I don't get into a nursing school. I feel so horrible that I didn't get in the first time. So now I am applying to other nursing schools. I just want to hurry up and be a nurse already.

Sourpatch,

I feel your pain with wanting to hurry up and be a nurse already! And I love your idea of having a preventative health care center :). Just out of curiosity how many points did you apply with the first time you applied? A couple weeks ago when I was in the advising center they said the cutoff for the fall was 90.38 and I have a classmate that got in with 90 point something points. So I am hoping that the cutoff for the spring will be close to that and 92 points will be enough! October's signing session can't come soon enough! good luck!!!
