UNLV SON Spring 2014??

Published

Hi all, wondering if anyone is applying to the nursing program at UNLV for spring 2014? This kills me to ask; but if so, how many points do you have and what makes you want to be a nurse? Good luck to all those hopeful nurses out there☺☺☺

That's funny it's the same course number. I assumed you had the same class because that professor had a slide of the cat every lecture just to lighten up the crowd, he was great! Have not seen that show will have to check it out, thanks!

Jumping back in on this thread!! I HAVE seen untold stories of the ER!! Omg!! Loved that show, and also Mystery Diagnosis! Unfortunately I don't have those channels anymore..

Anyways, nice to meet all of you upcoming new nursing students and professionals!! I do hope that we all get in as a team together and change the lives of those who are in dire need and make a difference in soo many lives!! Yayyy us!! :)

AAAAAHHHHHH!!!!!!!!! Its October. That means signing sessions are about to start. I'm so nervous. My signing session is October 11th. How about everyone else?

It is so exciting! I will be there on the 11th too at 11 am. Maybe I will see you there, lets get this process rolling! lol

Has anyone been to a signing session before? I don't know what to expect! Mine is tomorrow at 11 :nurse:

I have. Just go to the room with your BSN application filled out, a printed copy of your hesi A2 scores, and a unoffical copy of your transcripts( the transcripts are not necessary though). At my signing session the director of the health science advising center showed up and let us in. There were about 20 of us. We all sat at a big circle table and she discussed how many applicants they have got so far, how we will know if we did or did not get in, and basically how difficult it is to get into the program. Then, she called people over to a seperate smaller table one by one in alphabetical order to look over their file and sign the Letter of Understanding. She does not caculate your score. Idk if she will if you asked her to, but I don't think she did it for anyone in my session last semester. You can ask her any questions you have about your file and then you leave. Its good to have your transcripts with you just in case one of your grades are wrong. In my last signing session, one of my grades were wrong and since I didn't have my transcripts with me she had to remember to go to her office and look up the grade and fix it. She doesn't have a computer with her. It all goes pretty fast though.

Thanks :) I had a couple questions about the point scoring (rounding & sig figs), and the nice gentleman did not know the answer, but I guess I will find out soon enough!

They round when they are calculating your points?

No clue, didn't get the answers. I can't imagine that they do, but I was mostly wondering about core GPA scoring. For example, if someone had a 3.589, would they view it as a 3.58 or a 3.59? I remember seeing the cut off last semester was 90.xx, so I'm not sure exactly where they draw the line.

Did they say how many students were applying for spring admission?

They did not, they just said that last semester was their largest applicant pool with 120 students and there would likely be people that did not make it in last time re-applying for the spring.

...I imagine that they might give an estimate at a later signing session. There were maybe about 12 people at mine.
