UNLV Nursing Fall 2017

Published

Hi everyone! So I know it's really early, but I am super anxious about applying for the 2017 Fall nursing program at UNLV. If anyone else is applying for Fall 2017 comment below!! Good luck to everyone :)

I'm finished with the to do list. I just have to buy books as well. They bookstore on campus already has the bundle, but even they don't know what individual books are in the bundle. Apparently they come in a big box and you can't see what's inside. Do you guys know?

Did you guys get your physicals done at UNLV ? Was it free ?

@appetiteforsuccess I have no idea what books are inside. Lol I wish I knew.

@Icantwaittobeanurse yes, I got mine done there. It was free since I was taking a summer class and the health fee was included with my tuition.

Do you think mine will be free because I'm enrolled for fall ?

I don't think so. but I would call them to double check because I could be wrong.

I'm guessing that we probably have to buy our books at the bookstore as a bundle

Hello, everyone. I'm a prospective student. I heard that the program is competitve and my main questions are: what grades do admissions want for the prerequisites, what score do they want on the hesi, and what is the cut-off with the point system? I already got accepted into roseman, but I really want to evaluate all my options before starting the nursing program. Thanks :)

Definitely try to get As in all pre-reqs. A "B" here & there is okay but to be competitive you want As on your first attempt. You NEED at least a B. But still...try to get As. If you don't get a B on the first try, you get a 2nd attempt to get the minimum, but that decreases your points. You need at least a 75 on the hesi in each subcategory (reading, math, etc). They like applicants with a 90 or higher. & usually, if your hesi score is super high (93 & above), but you've got more than a few Bs in your prereqs, that could help you get in dramatically. As far as cut offs go, they change each semester. But now they've made it to where anything below 88 will not get in

Thank you so much for the quick response. I am almost done with all my prerequistes for unlv, but most of them are B's, B+, and one A- in the sciences. Do they look for a spefic GPA as well? I know the minimum is a 3.0, but what is the class average typically? Also, have you heard any good or bad things about roseman? I'm kind of weary about the program considering that the majority of it is online.

It's great these are your first attempts ! Now just try to really ace the hesi & you're good. Im not too familiar w/ how much they value the gpa. I've heard from others that if two people are head to head points wise (they both have 90.2) then they look at who has the higher GPA. But I only heard that from like 1 person lol. I haven't heard much about Roseman, but I've heard a lot about UNLV's. While they are expensive they're program really does prepare you for the NCLEX. & the applicants usually have really high pass rates. You might also wanna consider how well you learn w/ online classes. I know for me, I learn better in class & have always hated online classes lol

I just bought my books today at the bookstore. They come in a box. Kind of heavy. Lol. I thought the books were going to be around 700 something dollars, but it was less than that.

Dude, where are our scrubs !
