UNLV NURSING FALL 2020 COHORT

Published

Hey guys! I noticed there's no forums on unlv nursing for fall 2020 cohort. Wondering where we all stand for this application cycle so we can all get an idea of the points applying. I stand at a 96.5. I am hoping that is good enough because I was told it's gotten more competitive lately. If you post, please post your points as well or your predicted points just so we all have an idea ? good luck to everyone and stay safe out there!

Hey there! I haven’t taken my HESI yet, but my all of the practice exams I’ve taken pre-studying had good scores, so I’m hoping that reflects in my actual HESI score. I’m taking my HESI late May and my Signing Session early June. If you’ve taken the HESI, do you have any recommendations on specific topics to study? I’ve been doing a general sweep of all the topics since January. ?

That’s awesome!! Do you mind if I ask what you got in your pre-nursing classes?

Fore HESI studying, what worked for me was just using that HESI admissions study book. I just reviewed the sections in that book that we are supposed to take and did all the practice questions in it for about 2 weeks before taking the exam and felt it was the most benefit to me.

Sweet! Thanks!

As for the pre nursing courses, all of the required ones I got A’s except for NURS299 (nutrition throughout the lifespan). I struggled a lot with the format of the class and I got a B out of it!

I currently have 93.67 points but I am not too sure if it is good enough to apply with.

I am currently retaking Kin223 to bump my points up to a 94.1 if I pass that class with a solid A.

Hey there! I hope this reaches everyone in good health.

Do any of you know how they're going to be handling the HESI exam? I'm scheduled to take it May 22 and I'm worried the testing facilities will stay closed.

Do any of you guys have the same worries? Has anyone reached out to Promteric/Elsevier to see if they're going to be doing anything to make sure they're open, especially during the application season? Have you reached out to UNLV? The SoN page only has information about testing for students that are already in the program, not for those waiting to apply.

I emailed the advising center and I'm expecting an answer within the week, if there's anything helpful I'll post it here.

UNLV will make a decision on May 15th.

Do you guys think they will allow people to apply if testing centers remain closed? or what do you think will happen?

Apparently they’ll release a decision May 15. But I received an email from Prometric saying that my appt (May 22) is still scheduled but it’s up to the testing centers.

Also, there are some other nursing’s programs that are allowing people to apply without HESI scores. I’m sure that’s one of the options on the table.

Do you guys know of other people applying? I wonder if we can get an estimate on how many people will be applying this cohort.

I am applying.
