University of Wisconsin Nurse Residency Program Summer 2015

U.S.A. Wisconsin

Published

I thought I'd start a thread about the summer 2015 University of Wisconsin Nurse Residency Program...I saw that some other applicants had posted on the earlier group's thread, but I thought we could use our own! I love my privacy, so I hemmed and hawed about starting this dialogue, but I realized that I kept checking for someone else to do it, which was silly!

I submitted my application in Mid-November, and was contacted to arrange a phone interview the week after Thanksgiving. It took a couple of days to get that arranged, with 12-hour clinicals going on. When we finally spoke, I was scheduled for that same afternoon! (So, be prepared for this possibility! I was glad to get it over with, personally). Four business days later I received an email asking me to submit references, and now.....I WAIT. Ahhhhhhrggg!

I really want company on this journey-- so let's talk! I always feel it's hard to put yourself out there online when there's a possibility that you'll NOT be accepted/hired, but I think we can make this thread a supportive environment for everyone :)

I received a call with a job offer yesterday! So excited and grateful. Now, to finish my capstone and pass the NCLEX... :bored: Also happy I'll be near my family again! Good luck everyone and hopefully I'll meet some of you in a few months.

Congrats!!! That's awesome!

Congratulations! Which unit? Has anyone else heard back yet?

Geriatrics & General Medicine.

I know some people were initially reluctant to post in this thread because they knew so many of the other applicants...I overheard this topic of discussion on my interview day, and indeed many of my fellow applicants were clearly well acquainted. Since my school is out of state, I had the luxury of privacy - I only told a few of people there that I applied, and I'll tell and even smaller group that I was offered a position. (At work it was a different story- I've known those folks for years and feel a lot more comfortable around them.)

On one hand it makes me a little sad that people seem so guarded, but on the other hand, I get it.

Some more phone calls seem to be going out today! :D

I got an offer for the Neuro ICU (so excited!), and there are apparently going to be 4 nurse residents for that unit. Yay!

Hi all, I'm a December grad but saw that UW health still has a posting for the spring residency program and I'm considering applying to it. Does anyone know if they will take grads from the previous semester? I'm trying to find that first job that will be the right fit for me and feel like this could be it.

Congrats! That's wonderful....Also really cool there will be four of you. On my unit I think there will only be two.

Congrats! So exciting!

I believe they accept applications from those who have graduated within the last six months. I would definitely call and see what they have to say :)

Thanks Melusine & BSN_515!

Has anyone heard back from any pediatric units yet? That's one area I'm not seeing on here and was just curious!

Hi mcquinn93, I'm still waiting to hear anything (good or bad) from the children's hospital
