Hi everyone!! I just finished my application for UWF FNP program for the Fall 2022. Anyone else apply? Does anyone have any information on the program? Thanks! ?
Hello ?? everyone!
I’m from TX and start the program this coming Monday as well ?. I’m excited however I’m second guessing my decision to choose UWF since I will most likely be jumping thru hoops to do clinical hours in TX and be eligible to sit for license exam. I haven’t found any answers for out of state students.
Does anyone know what the rules and regulations are to obtain a TX APRN license upon graduating from UWF? I’ve contact both the TX BON and my academic advisor but both haven’t been helpful with getting me direct answers. They basically said it’s the students responsibility to find out before starting the program. I need to know if I will be eligible to obtain a license in Texas upon graduation. The last thing I want is to graduate but can’t obtain a license in the state I live in. Any advice and guidance would be greatly appreciated.
Thanks!
I did a little bit of reading on the Texas BON site. You're right, it is confusing. The only part that would make me concerned for you is that Texas requires an approval from their BON for out of state clinical hours. The link I found this information is here:
https://www.BON.texas.gov/education_formal_education_for_students.asp.html
What isn't clear though is if this pertains only to RN programs? Because in the statute about APRN education, it has the below:
(a) General Requirements. Advanced practice registered nursing education programs in the State of Texas shall be approved by the Board until the program is accredited or approved by a national advanced practice registered nursing education accrediting body recognized by the Board.
Here's the link for that:
https://www.BON.texas.gov/rr_current/219-1.asp.html
It stands to reason then that based upon the statute which should supersede the BON, that the clinical hours for APRN education do not need that additional approval for out of state programs since the APRN program you are going to is nationally accredited (CCNE). I would contact the Texas BON to clarify that part though because the website information seems contradictory and does not clarify specifically for APRNs.
There are two Terms of Service-approved ways to create a special place for your cohort.
One: create a facebook page. This link may be posted.
Two: create a "club" for your cohort by clicking on the Breakroom link in the yellow bar to the left of this page. Then click on “Create A New Club” in the green bar at the top of the page, and follow instructions.
References to other than these two avenues will be moved from view, to comply with the Terms of Service.
Thank you.

Thanks @grnfld86 after lots of emails to the TX BON I believe I have enough information to continue with the FNP program at UWF.
Hey ?? @sharnisse I’m also in the Fall 2022 FNP program, let me know if you create a FB group. I would love to join and let’s help each other become a FNP!
