University of Washington (UW) DNP 2021

Nursing Students School Programs

Updated:   Published

Looked for another thread but couldn't find one, anyone applying to University of Washington's (UW) DNP program starting Autumn 2021?

What track is everyone applying to?

Does anyone know if any one thing is worth more weight in admissions (GPA, LORs, Experience, etc.)?

Does anyone know the profile of a competitive applicant? Someone in the 2020 thread posted a link for admission stats from 2018, looked like around a 35-45% acceptance rate, depending on the track.  I haven't been able to find any updated information. Anyone have any?

I'll be applying to the Adult Gerontology Acute Care NP track!

I was waitlisted #4 for PMHNP. Anyone else waitlisted for PMHNP?

Those who’ve been accepted: Anyone else have a blank PAC number on their application status and can’t do their deposit as a result because you need it for your UWNetID? I emailed registrar per the instructions but wanted to see if anyone else had problems too.

For those of you who accepted an offer, I made a facebook group called ‘UW DNP Class of 2024’!

For those who were waitlisted, I received the following from Simone Nelson.  We aren’t actually going to be helped as promised.

Thank you for your email. I am currently not meeting with people who have a spot on the waitlists. We usually see some significant movement on the waitlists between now and toward the end of Spring/first part of Summer. If a spot becomes available for you, you will be called and emailed immediately.
If you have not been offered a spot in the program by the first week in June please reach out to me and I would love to set up an appointment to go over your application at that time. If you have any other questions please let me know.
Stay safe and stay healthy.
Best,
Simone

Thanks for forwarding that reply! I also emailed but haven't gotten a response.

Does anyone know if the first year we just have classes one day/week? Or any idea at all what the schedule is like?

In the past it has been one full day a week, I think on Tuesdays.

First Year student here. It's usually Thursdays every week for first year. So just one day. Classes go from 8-8:30 am to about 2:20-4:20 pm depending on the quarter.  Frequency of classes increases in years 2 and 3 along with clinical days.

Do you happen to remember how many people were admitted from the waitlist last year?

I don't remember exactly how many but I do know we did have a lot of movement on the list. The top 3 candidates on the list have a pretty decent chance any given year. If those who are accepted reject the offer or something else falls through then more and more spots open up.

The difficult part is those of us who had UW as our first choice, and receive an offer of admission elsewhere have to either choose to forego that offer and hope UW accepts us or give-up a deposit at another school after accepting, paying the deposit, then declining at a much later date.  Not all of us are in Washington, and having to make plans to move to Seattle are both expensive and time consuming.

Just accepted an offer for AGNP - Primary Care, was waitlisted at #1 spot. Crossing my fingers for others on the waitlist!
