University of Washington (UW) DNP Fall 2018

Nursing Students Post Graduate

Published

Hi all, I couldn't find a thread for those applying to UW for fall 2018 so I thought I'd start one. Anyone else applying? What track? I'm doing psych. Anyone know how many people might be applying this year?

Oh and any tips from those who went to the info sessions? I'm not local so I wasn't able to make it out.

I am applied to DNP-FNP track. Fingers crossed as I heard it is very comparative to get in this this track. I graduated from UW my with my BSN last year and I loved the faculty and students. I love the School. Good luck to all of you who are applying. Let the wait begin.

Is anyone besides me becoming a bit neurotic playing this waiting game of "am I in or not"? I want to apply to a couple other programs, but their deadlines aren't until mid-March or April, so I'm holding out since the U is my first choice.....it feels just like when I applied to nursing school, then my BSN.....you'd think I'd be used to this by now!

I'd say might as well apply. Can't hurt to have a backup that you can use so you don't have to wait a year if you don't get in this time.

Here's the stats on UW admissions by major or ethnicity:

Ohh, is the early admission DNP specifically for midwifery or does it apply to all tracks?

I'm so sorry that I'm just seeing this! GAK! At this point the answer doesn't affect you (for a couple reasons) but I wanted to answer!

It applied (the early admission) to Midwifery and also Community Health, I believe. Specifically, those applying to the ABSN (so you, already being in a program, wouldn't have to worry about this) could apply early so that we roll directly into our DNP programs when we finish our ABSN. So, for me, I'll be in UW's 2018-19 ABSN cohort, have 5 weeks "off" (to pass the NCLEX, not vacation. HA) and then I will start my DNP immediately in the fall.

This is the first year they have done this and I think are trying it out... :)

When are we supposed to hear back? I applied to the AGACNP track, and am super nervous. I also think it's weird that they don't interview.

I applied to the psych DNP track. psych degree from UW (3.8 gpa). nursing degree from SU (3.6 gpa). 1.5 years acute med surg experience at the time my application was submitted. Also have some behavioral health research experience. Still anxiously waiting to hear back! It is my second time applying... fingers crossed:)

Those're really good stats! I'm a bit similar but not as experienced. What happened the first time you applied? Any reason you think you didn't make the cut? Seems like they put a lot of emphasis on the essays, I think that might be what gets some people.

I'm not sure, could be the essay or maybe I just needed more experience... There are a ton of amazingly qualified applicants that apply every year. I'm just going to keep learning and trying!!! lol

Hello everyone, I applied to the UW AGNP-PC BSN to DNP program for Fall 2018. I also applied to Duke and Columbia. UW is my first choice. I am living in Texas so it will be a big move for me. Anxiously awaiting to hear back!

Good luck to everyone!

Good luck(: I hear we get the results early March. Good luck to all!

I applied for the acute care PNP program. But I'm kind of nervous about it because the program is brand new. I don't want to be a guinea pig lol!
