University of Washington (UW) - ABSN 2020

Updated:   Published

Hi everyone! Just wanted to start a forum for those applying to University of Washington's ABSN program for Fall 2020. I'm applying from California and unfortunately, I don't have any healthcare experience working directly with/under nurses as I'm an ophthalmic technician. I graduated last year with a BS in Health Science with a focus in Community Health.

Any feedback/advice on becoming a stronger applicant are welcome, or sharing your progress in the application is great too! Thanks! ?

Hi guys,

Do you guys know how many people applied to the program and how many people they accept?

I got the same numbers as everyone else but I definitely was stumped by the first question since I hadn't ever calculated drip-rate before.

I believe last night they said they had over 300 applicants but only admit 63? I could be off with the numbers though.

Hi Yall,

I also took the proctored essay and I was wondering if that is the decision-maker too if you get in or not? I feel like I could have done better and I miscalculated one problem, I feel like because of that my chances are ruined.

@KevinLM I don't see the essay as the make or break for your application. They take a holistic approach to reviewing applications.

In one of the online info sessions they said that it was okay if you missed one math question. They do look at all aspects of our applications. So if you missed one math question they might turn to your science grades to see if you are okay with numbers and this was just a slip up. And I also heard last night that it does count for 20% of the application.

Does anyone know when they expect to have admissions decisions back to us? I know in prior years, it was around mid-December, but I wondered if it was the same this year.

I believe I saw Dec 20th as the official date on something from UW but I’m not sure.

Hi! Does anyone know how admissions decisions are released? I know they're coming out around early/mid December... getting so nervous!

I think in prior years, they would call with acceptance offers, and email wait list info and denials. It's so hard to wait, isn't it?

I called the other day and asked when exactly we can expect admission decisions in Dec. Very nice person on the phone, didn’t catch her name.. She said they work on a strict timeline and send out admission decisions ON Dec 16th, not before - though she said if they’re really ahead of schedule we could expect to hear back on the 15th. I know I’m not alone when I say this wait is driving me nuts! But we are officially under one month.. good luck everyone!

Thank you for the update! I was looking back at the past year's forums and it has always been around Dec. 13-16, so I hoped that would be the case. Thanks for making the call for us :) Best of luck to everyone!

My goal is to have notifications by next Friday!

We will call our 64 Admits to let them know, if a random (206) number is calling next Friday, don't be scared to answer! ?

All other notifications (Waitlist and Deny) will be emailed that same day. If you don't hear from us by Monday, please send me an email at [email protected].
