Hi everyone! Just wanted to start a forum for those applying to University of Washington's ABSN program for Fall 2020. I'm applying from California and unfortunately, I don't have any healthcare experience working directly with/under nurses as I'm an ophthalmic technician. I graduated last year with a BS in Health Science with a focus in Community Health.
Any feedback/advice on becoming a stronger applicant are welcome, or sharing your progress in the application is great too! Thanks! ?
MountainLoveMama,
How odd. After you submitted your application, did you receive an email with information about the proctored essay?
Just in case, here is the information for the school of nursing if you'd like to call or e-mail them directly: Student and Academic Services at 206.543.8736 or [email protected].
"Please reserve the date of Tuesday, October 22 for completing the proctored essay. Applicants who live in the Puget Sound area are expected to come to the Seattle campus from 6 - 7 p.m. to complete this. The proctored essay will be held in Hogness Auditorium (room A-420). Directions to the Health Sciences Building can be found on our website or the link below, and signs will be posted on campus."
Here is the link for the map/directions as well: https://nursing.uw.edu/about/location/
When you click on the directions link it takes you to a page that directs you to a different room than what is in the email.
From the email: "The proctored essay will be held in Hogness Auditorium (room A-420)."
From the website link: "Enter the building through the double glass doors. You will be standing in the School of Nursing main office, room T301."
Do we meet at the main nursing office or go straight to the auditorium? I emailed Adrian, but I know they are very busy right now. Is anyone familiar with the campus and can shed some light?
Thanks!
Hey! I got the impression that the test will be in the auditorium, and there will be signs directing us to the room when we arrive in the nursing department. I think the directions on the website were more general directions to the department, in the (rather huge) UWMC/Health Sciences complex ?

Thank you! Best of luck!

I know what you mean- I'm leaving really early to make sure I can find parking and walk to the building with plenty of time to spare. Best of luck to you, too!
@DaniJeanB When you get down to the nursing school/med center, there is a courtyard next to the long grey concrete building that is right along the road. This is the nursing school and it will be on your right as you walk up to the courtyard. It will say "School of Nursing" outside of the building. If you keep going straight past this, there is a line of glass doors. Go to those. Once inside, the auditorium is up the stairs on the left. They usually have some sort of sign to help out too but you can see it better on Google Maps if you are a visual person like me! Hope this helps!
