Hi everyone! Just wanted to start a forum for those applying to University of Washington's ABSN program for Fall 2020. I'm applying from California and unfortunately, I don't have any healthcare experience working directly with/under nurses as I'm an ophthalmic technician. I graduated last year with a BS in Health Science with a focus in Community Health.
Any feedback/advice on becoming a stronger applicant are welcome, or sharing your progress in the application is great too! Thanks! ?

One defeat could lead to countless victories! Keeping my mind positive. I know everyone in this application pool was VERY competitive! Don’t take this hit too hard, I’m sure you’re more than qualified to be a nurse! It’ll come! (I say this for my sake too! ? )
Thanks girl! I’ve got a plan and I’m gonna make it happen! You will too. I’m thankful because if this program didn’t exist I don’t know if I would have even considered going back to school. But now I’m committed and determined! Good luck with your other apps, you’ve got this!!
I got an e-mail at 5:38 PST stating that I have been placed on the waitlist in position #14! I am incredibly grateful and relieved!!
Today was a long day full of tough emotions - fear, anger, panic, sadness, self-pity... I know there are at least a few hundred of you out there feeling the same way. The only thing that made me feel better was reading the comments on this thread. I am so impressed with the level of support and genuine encouragement coming from you all, even those who were not accepted this time. It has totally validated my decision to apply. I really hope I can become a part of your community someday! And I wish the best for all of you. Onward~
Hey guys, don’t give up! Last year I was number 37 on the waitlist and then was accepted to the UW BSN program by changing nothing but my essays. This year I was accepted to the ABSN by mimicking what I did last year on the BSN. I really think it comes down to how you present your experiences and your understanding of nursing. I would be happy to give anyone some pointers!

Hello,
I just received an email and was not admitted either. Congrats to those who got in! Does anyone know if we would know if we were on the waitlist?
Thanks!
