Hi,
I am researching grad schools and became very interested in the University of South Alabama's ENP (dual FNP/ACNP) online program. I am interested in knowing how competitive the program is regarding acceptance. I have a GPA now of 3.3, 2.5 years ER experience in a level one trauma center, 1 year of trauma icu experience, 3 years of management experience, ACLS, PALS, TNCC and will have (hopefully) my CCRN cert when I apply. What are your thoughts considering the above information and your knowledge first or second hand on this university? Thank you for any information you can give.

Hi Clemson1st
I started the NP program at USA this last year and I am seriously concerned. I raised several questions and one of the nursing school deans called me on the phone and was very, very abrupt and rude, wouldn't let me get a word in. At the end of the conversation (which I was polite and quiet), she said, "if you can't do the rules of the school, maybe you should look somewhere else. " I was really shocked, I have been a good student, straight A's and I felt really horrible. I am wondering if she was right, maybe I should go somewhere else. She also had the coordinator of my specialty area in on the call and I wonder if she poisoned this person against me. Is this typical of your experience or other people's experience?
Thanks !
I totally agree. you get what you pay for and this is just a cheap online program that does not at all prepare for you practice. I would really be concerned to see who actually graduates from the ACNP or FNP programs
So has anyone found a good online FNP program. I live in Florida and just wasted 2 years at USF. I would like to find a reasonable online program. I am used to having poor instruction and do a lot of self teaching. I am starting to get worried that I will not have my MSN before they turn it into a DNP.
Thanks, Kim
Well, I have to admit that I am feeling a little sick after reading some of the above posts about USA. I was accepted for the Summer FNP/ACNP program, and have been anxiously awaiting the opening of registration in the am. I just recently found this site-probably would have saved me a lot of headache with Jacksonville University's BSN program...ugh!! Certainly do not want a repeat, or worse with USA
Sugar Pill, I also had a few moments of concern after reading negative posts about USA. I am also in the FNP/ACNP program beginning this summer. I was able to talk with someone who just finished the program. She was shocked to hear what I told her I read on here. She had a completely different view of the program and school, all positive. I have come to the resolution that most of what is available on forums tend to be negative. I have been successful with distance programs in the past, they are challenging for many reasons and not right for everyone. I will definitely keep the experiences shared here (good and bad) stored in the back of my mind but I am going into this program with a positive attitude.
Good luck to you, maybe I will "see" you around. Just registered today for the policy course.

Also wanted to say that I know some students who complained - and they weren't whiners, they were asking basic questions - like why couldn't they review their own tests and see what they got wrong.
