Hey guys....Im curious if I get any bites. Has anyone out there applied to the USA Nursing program??? I have and Im waiting to hear something back at this point. Just wanted to share in the excitement should we get accepted. :)
Right now Im in El Paso TX and I got into nursing school here (El Paso Community College) but I HATE it here. Im Army so thats how I ended up 18 hours away from home...but to make a long story short I applied to Bishop State, Faulkner, Jefferson Davis, and of course South. I also elected for the traditional program at South as an alternative...I wonder when you find out about that one??? The rest that I applied to are all community colleges but Faulkner has a 100% pass rate on the NCLEX...thats higher than South's...but the bummer is that its just an ADN...I mean, you can get your bachelors right afterwards with just 3 short semesters for a MUCH cheaper price so all in all it's how you look at it. There's more than one way to skin a cat lol. The rest of those school's acceptance letters are based on a points system. For example, Faulkner maxes out at 251 points. They look at your TEAS score and your grades in AP1, AP2, Micro, and a higher level math. The grades are assigned certain values and thats how you guage it. If you look at previous posts on here you will see that fall requires a more competitive score. They say you need between a 165-185 to get in. I have a 200 so I know Im in. Request that you be added to the school's facebook page for the nursing students and you will find out A LOT of info on there. You still have time to take the TEAS if you want...the rest of the schools require it and you find out your score the same day. It's not bad at all....research the schools and look up there NCLEX pass rate to help you make a decision. Hope I answered everything for you. If not then let me know...I just had a baby so I'll be up all night lol
I'm hoping when they say "letters," that it's an inclusive thing, meaning Accelerated and Traditional. That is certainly something to consider! I wasn't really planning on an ADN but I'm ready to be out there in the workforce so at this point, I'll go any route. I'll certainly look into the ADN Program at Faulkner. You said one could go for their Bachelor's after... you mean maybe try and go back to South? I've also never heard of the TEAS, but I'll look into it tonight! I really appreciate the information that you have! You're so informed!!!
The TEAS test is the entrance exam to most nursing schools. There's only a handful of schools nationwide that dont require an entrance exam and South is one of them. They either require u to take the TEAS or the HESI. They are 4 hour exams on reading, math, science, and language usage. The better your scores the higher your chances of getting in. When I say go back to school after the ADN I dont necessarily mean to South. Just about every school has 'RN to BSN' track...majority are online. It's three semesters at every school and you can work as a RN at the same time. What's even better is that whatever hospital you work will pay for it thru tuition reimbursement so in essence, it's free.#Winning lol.
I emailed the head of the program asking about phone interviews and let her know that I hadn't heard anything. That was what she told me. It seems that they just consider each applicant based on their GPA -- we're just a number. They didn't take anything else into consideration, such as my research projects being published, my internships, or my volunteer work.

I could be wrong but I think those notifications regarding financial aid automatically go out depending on what schools you put on your FAFSA paper work.
