University of South Alabama Accelerated Nursing Spring 2016

Published

Hey,

I applied to the University of South Alabama Accelerated Nursing Program for Spring 2016.

I'm just curious if anyone else applied.

Can anyone give me feedback on how the application process goes? How long it takes? etc.

Any feedbacks on how the program runs? Professors, classes, schedules?

I'm anxiously waiting to hear back.

Thanks.

Hey! I was actually part of the past group that started in July and I had missed passing the Foundations class by 2 points..:) SO I will be a part of your class. I won't start with you guys until April when you begin the Foundations class but I am planning on sitting in on a few Pharm and Patho classes to keep my mind fresh. So if you guys start a Facebook page let me know and if anybody has any questions I will help out as much as possible during these next few months.

Congratulations !! I just got accepted for fall 2017 and was wondering how many days of school we have in a week and where you stayed in mobile during your school?

Hey! Did you mean fall 2017 or Spring 2017? I just got into the accelerated program for spring of 2017! And I know its pretty much every day for the first 5 weeks then 3 weeks in a lab before clinicals. Once clinicals start its only one day a week normally, then clinical 2-3 days a week.

I started in July. We have 5 weeks of patho, pharm, and health assessment. Those classes continue to the end of the semester, but pretty much everything is online after the first 5 weeks (I think Tuesday was the off day). Then, we do 3 weeks of skills (M-W), 3 weeks for psych (M/T class days, W-F clinical days), and about 6 weeks of foundations (changes a bit but for the most part class on Tue {sometimes we have a test on Monday or a simulation on half a day Wednesday}, Clinical is half a day Wednesday, full day Thursday, and full day on Friday (some people will have weekend clinical). It will be a little different for yall since we have thanksgiving and Christmas break and yall don't. Get ready to write some papers! There are not bad, but there a few. Most people that moved for this program live in Daphne or Fairhope. Most classes are in Fairhope, but most clinical locations are in Mobile. I live in Mobile (I always have) so I just stayed here. I drive about 1hr every morning for class, but I live like 20 mins from the hospitals we do clinical at. There are some clinical locations in Fairhope/Daphne so some people will get those places. I can try to answer any questions if you have any.

@jnm041994 Thanks so much for the information! And I will be staying in Mobile as well, due to the fact the lady mentioned during my interview that most clinicals are in Mobile. I was just curious of some of your background if you don't mind? How long were you out of college before you started, and how intense is the program. I know its going to be super overwhelming, but just how rough is it? ha Thanks!!

My degree was in Biology. I graduated in May and started this program in July, so only a couple of months! When I am going through the class I think it is the worst, then afterwards it isn't so bad. lol

Just don't be a procrastinator! Psych is a little crazy, but it is only 3 weeks. I have had a few nights with very little sleep! The main instructors are great! Who did your phone interview?

Ah, so you got right back into it. I have been out for three years now, so got to get back in the swing of things! And yea, I actually know someone who graduated and she said the same thing! And yea, I expect to lose some time and sleep, but thats the sacrifice of just one year. And I honestly do not remember because the interview caught me off guard, I was at work and missed her introducing herself, haha. And yea, the commute to begin with is going to suck!haha Excited to get started though!

Hello,

I was also accepted at the end of September for the Spring 2017 program! I am hoping to meet some people so we can make a study group and keep up with this. Feel free to contact me anytime, or I will see you in January. I also graduated in May from Duquesne University in Pittsburgh with a B.S. in Biology and minors in biochemistry and mathematics. I went to Africa over the summer and was unable to start right away. But I am excited to see how this program goes. Hopefully we can all help each other along the way! I look forward to meeting everyone =]

Yea, I was thinking the same thing! My name is Roland and my jag email is [email protected] if anyone wants to contact me!

Does anyone need or know someone who needs any books or scrubs? I have most of the books, 2 sets of female scrubs (XL), lab coat, stethoscope, washable white nursing shoes (size 10), and a clinical clipboard. I can do everything as a package deal or separately. Let me know if someone needs anything! [email protected]
