University of South Alabama Accelerated Nursing Spring 2016

Published

Hey,

I applied to the University of South Alabama Accelerated Nursing Program for Spring 2016.

I'm just curious if anyone else applied.

Can anyone give me feedback on how the application process goes? How long it takes? etc.

Any feedbacks on how the program runs? Professors, classes, schedules?

I'm anxiously waiting to hear back.

Thanks.

Specializes in ER.

I applied, and there were issues with my transcript verification process. I had all my transcripts sent abut 10 weeks in advance, and one was still not processed in time. The NURSINGCAS claimed that they only received my graduate transcripts from one school, although they had never sent me a message to contact me telling me this. I then contacted them multiple times, and finally my transcripts were verified on 8/14. I think the deadline for transcript verification was 8/1. So I think my application will get pushed back to the next semester...Did you have issues with the transcript verification? Have you heard anything? I applied for the Adult-Gerontological NP area.

Hey! I also applied to the Spring Accelerated Program. I have not received anything, not a confirmation that they received my transcripts, zero emails, and when I've called to verify I'm told that they can't to do that. Applying to South was one of the most difficult tasks in my academic career. Someone please let me know if they received ANYTHING for the College of Nursing.

I had applied to the Accelerated program. I have a non-nursing degree. We didn't have to submit transcripts through NursingCAS (as far as I know of). I'm not sure how they are deciding on applications. I plan on going the Gerontological NP route as well. I minored in gerontology. I hope everything works out in the long run. *fingers crossed*

I had emailed the main email address after I submitted my application, because I had a couple questions about transcripts. After a few weeks later, they got back to me. They told me that they had received my packet and would contact me there was any issues. I didn't hear anything back after that.

I did email them last week to check on the process. As you can tell, I'm very anxious. They told me that decisions should be going out within the next few week. I don't know what the exact time frame is. I hope we hear back soon.

The program director JUST called and left a voicemail to schedule a phone interview for this weekend!! I'm about to email her to confirm a time! So nervous.

I had my interview this morning and I am ACCEPTED!! Now I just have to figure out how to pay for it all!!! Anyone have any luck with nursing scholarships? Good luck to everyone!!!

Congratulations!

Would you mind sharing your stats? How was the interview?

Prereq GPA: 3.9

The interview was VERY laid back. She just discussed the program a bit and asked why nursing, what area am I most interested in, and what I've been doing since earning my first degree. She informed me at the end of the call that I had been selected for the January cohort! I'm excited and nervous! What about your stats?

I also applied for the Spring 2016 accelerated BSN program after declining the entry for Fall 2015. I had my phone interview on September 18 and she informed me that I am accepted to the program. My prereq GPA is a 3.65 I think. They said the packets would go out mid-October with all the other information. Interview was very casual and she is so very nice. I had some contact emails from last semester so I was able to contact them with a couple questions. I also made several phone calls to get my application rolled over to Spring from Fall semester a little past the deadline. I am very nervous and excited at the same time. It's going to be a tough year but they say it flies by and will be over before we know it. I know the first day of class is January 4 and graduation is somewhere around December 9th or 10th. We do not get holidays, spring break, or any other break. Most weeks will be 4 days but sometimes we have 5 days. She said about 32 to 40 hours of class and clinical time per week is the norm. If class day falls on a holiday we go to school or clinical. It is very intensive but so worth it in the end. Sorry for the long post but I just wanted to share what I knew already in hopes of helping others. I haven't found much information online about the program other than this site and a few really old posts about the program. Looking forward to meeting others that are accepted and attending. Let me know if you all find out any other details.

I just finished the accelerated BSN program at South Alabama. It WAS an intense year, but so worth it now that it's done. I loved the main teacher, she is a really good teacher. Learned so much. Miss my classmates now. Can't wait to start for real nursing! You all can do it!!!

I remember feeling lost before it all started. They weren't good about giving out information, but once it all started, it wasn't so bad.

Thanks for the encouragement! I was wondering if you could tell me if we have one weekday off most weeks? I was just curious. I think they are vague in the beginning to create a sense of anticipation and excitement! I can't wait to begin and learn so much!!!
