University of San Francisco (USFCA) - MEMSN Spring 2025

Published

Hello. Jump starting the forum for USFCA MEMSN for Spring 2025.

I am probably going to decline since I want to apply to other schools, so I am glad to know someone just as deserving will get the spot, you guys got this!

I got declined 😞 I'm surprised I wasn't even put on the waitlist, I had all A's in my prerequisites

So did I, plus I did an internship and have worked at Stanford children's hospital for two years 🤕 if anyone has any advice I'd appreciate it.

I was waitlisted as well! Good luck to everyone that was and I hope we all get in!! (Impossible I know, but hopeful)

Did you guys have solid recommendations? You have solid grades and experience. The only things I can think of would be recommendations and/or essay responses.

Maybe my essay 😢 I had two recommendations from my supervisors at UCSF who knew me well so I don't think it's that. I also have in progress pre-requisites so maybe that affected it?

They allow up to three in-progress prerequisites. If you plan to re-apply to this school, I honestly suggest to have someone to read your essays. All my prerequisites were completed before application. I had A's and B's. I also read my essays to others for feedback. My recommendations came from my director and supervisor. Even with all that, I was waitlisted.

Thanks for your advice! 😊🙏 good luck to you and to all those who are waitlisted!

I was denied as well. My grades and essays are very good. I had one strong LoR and the other was likely more generic. I have prior clinical hours (over 1000) and a fair amount of volunteer hours through a church (~150). Congrats to everyone who got in!

I wish you all the best. Applying to graduate schools is competitive especially for majors like nursing. I'm sure you all will get in the programs you want eventually.

I got accepted; here are some of my stats:

1. 3.5 GPA

2. I have undergrad and post bac research experience

3. I don't have any certifications and I had only 100-200 total hours of volunteering in 2019 and 2023

4. My coworker in research wrote me a LoR, and my research internship director wrote me a LoR.

5. I wasn't the most confident in my grades, but I poured my heart into the Essay prompts.

Hope this helps.

Hi everyone! Just got my acceptance to the OC location and wanted to share my app, hopefully it'll help others  :)))

Undergrad GPA: 3.67

Pre req GPA: 3.7

*note: I graduated from a UC

Most recent Experiences: CNA, Research, Interned at a community health organization

letters of recs were from a health org supervisor and LVN

overall, it seems like they really look at personal statement, LOR, and experiences since my stats are really not competitive at all.

let me know if there's any other questions! Happy to answer any :)
