University of San Diego MEPN FALL 2021

Published

Hi everyone. Just starting a thread for those who are applying for USD's MEPN Program for Fall 2021. I just finished my undergrad in Allied Health. I have done my prereqs previously. For nursingCAS, are we required to take TEAS test? I do not know how will I start with my application. Anyone here had previously applied and reapplying again?

Well good luck to us. Keep us posted here if you get selected for the interview. I’ll let u know too. Are you applying to any other MEPN / ELM programs?

Do you know until what time on the 15th we're able to submit the app?

@PMHNP not sure until what time.. I checked the website, it just says Oct15.

I was also wondering this! I received the email that said 11:59, but I was unsure if it meant AM or PM. I'm assuming PM, but who knows...

Hi all! I'm waiting on one of my references to complete the letter, LOL, so I'll call at like 8 or 9 to find out if its 11:59am or pm ?

I graduated a couple years ago and have been taking prerequisites since then for this program! Just curious if anyone else has less than 100 hours of volunteer work? I did like 32 hours last Summer, but this year COVID happened so I couldn't get a volunteer gig anywhere. They said they're accepting less volunteer hours because of COVID but I'm still worried about it affecting my chances.

@Michelle Leonard I've been receiving emails from the admissions committee stating that we can still submit our applications even with references pending! Hmm do you have any clinical work experience? I've been working as an EMT and those hours satisfy the volunteer requirement.

I also confirmed that the deadline is 11:59 PM haha

@jereraffe No I don't have any clinical experience. It's been school school school ever since high school for me! I applied to UCSF last year and I know they weight clinical experience heavily and that's probably why I didn't get in, so I'm hoping USD will see my grades and see that I'm committed, because I know that I am. I'm actually finishing up the communications requirement this semester.

I still wanted to get my references today just in case I had to change anything, luckily my professor got back to me in time. Phew! Had me worried there for a couple hours. All submitted and really hoping for the best, this is my #1 school I'm hoping to get into.

@Michelle Leonard definitely  a question for Cathleen Mumper - she has emailed prospective students in the Past specifically regarding opportunities for volunteer hours in San Diego county... theres a chance the volunteer hours may be accepted if less than 100, but not sure what that percent/number is...

@Greennurse42 I had already emailed them and they simply said they're accepting fewer hours due to COVID. They did not give me a specific number or cut off, so I was just wondering if anyone else is submitting their application with fewer hours than 100 hours.

Given the short response I received I'd hope that they're not weighing it very heavily, but I don't know for sure.

I'd hate for that to be an issue because I was planning on finishing those hours this year ? I actually had the time to do them this year
