Just trying to find others out there that applied to university of Rochester's ABPNN for September 2020 start! Anyone have their interview scheduled?? Done with their interview?
Hi all!
I applied back in January and received an interview end of February. I had my interview March 4th which seemed to have gone pretty well and was told I would hear back sometime in May... A little worried because I was reading last years thread for the fall 2019 cohort and they didn't receive decisions until late June. I applied to a couple of other schools so I'm hoping to hear back before I need to place a deposit somewhere

That's good to hear. I'm sure it went well. What type of questions did they ask if you don't mind me asking? Like personal? Scenario? I know the May 2020 Cohort applied in November 2019 and found on February 14th, 2020. So I'm expecting ~12 weeks from the deadline. I hope before June because I live out of state. Do you mind sharing your stats?

They asked me some of the basics like why nursing, why UOR, and then also some personal questions like how do you handle a difficult/stressful situation. I was really nervous, but overall the interview was pretty painless, it was virtual and went on for about 25 minutes.
My overall GPA is a 3.59 and I'm not sure what my prerequisite GPA is but I think its about the same. I'm in my third year of undergrad and graduating in May, but I'm not technically conferring a degree until august (I have two non-nursing classes left to take over the Summer) so I'm worried that will affect my chances of getting in

Okay. So a combination of both. It doesn't sound too bad I guess. I'm still nervous though. Doesn't help I have anxiety too. So I noticed it said you could call by phone or laptop. Just wondering if we actually see each other face to face like facetime or just like a regular phone convo.
My overall GPA is a 3.4 I believe my prerequisites is similar. Honestly haven't calculated but I got A's in all but 2 and those were high B's. I'm a senior walking in April commencement (well would've been but they canceled it yesterday due to this virus). I still have 1 prerequisite left after I complete this semester. Thinking about taking 1 over but IDK. Do you know anyone who did the UoR prerequisites online? I have a ton of experience in the health care field (psych, OR, ob/gyn, labor & delivery). Forgot to mention that. I wish admission was on a rolling basis because I'm tired of waiting.
@iamshayla yeah my interview was pretty straight forward, basic questions like mentioned above and then she asked me some specifics on my resume. Lasted about 30min. She was very nice. My interviewer didn’t have her camera on so I couldn’t see her but she could see me.

Yeah they use Zoom and it’s a video conference basically like FaceTime or you have the option of just doing it over the phone. Did you schedule your interview yet?
Ah okay you sound like a good candidate. You’re still graduating though right? I don’t know anyone who did the prereqs with UofR online but if I get in I was planning on taking the nutrition with them online over the Summer. I’m in HA&P 2 right now but after that and the nutrition I’ll be done. I have volunteer experience at a hospital and I did a personal care assistant job and I thought that wasn’t a lot of experience, but the interviewer made it sound like I had a lot of experience probably from the way I incorporated it into my statement and interview
Yeah rochester is my top so the waiting process definitely sucks. I want to know so I can start looking into apartments and all that but I don’t want to get my hopes up

Yeah, it doesn't seem too bad. Still nervous nonetheless. Yeah, I know they use ZOOM but wasn't sure if they preferred your camera to be on. Did you apply as a matriculated or non matriculated? Apply to any other schools?

Completely understandable, I was too absolutely!! I already had completed all the required courses with my undergraduate degree that I received in 2017. I applied to a few other schools. The out of state ones I was denied from and I just had a pace interview earlier this week. How about you?

Yes, my interview is scheduled for 3/26. Do you know if they prefer the zoom like video or just calling over the phone? Just so I have an idea of what to do. I'll be at work too but at the time it was the only slot open so I just took it.
Yes, still graduating. They can't keep my degree forever. Virus or not. But I won't finish my last prerequisites until end of July. The issue I've been having with schools is that my university and even the community colleges here make A&P one class instead of 2. The one class is only 5 credits. Most schools want 6-8 credits in A&P. Even tried doing a course evaluation for some schools. So my thing is if I retake it with UoR, I know they'll accept it but the problem with that is they don't have a lab part to it which most school require. It would only be beneficial to UoR. Then I'd have to retake A&P somewhere else for the 3rd time with a lab in order for it to be sufficient for other schools. So I'm hoping to get in and just take A&P online with UoR and be done. Haha I know that's a lot and might be confusing. I want to know asap so I know if I should take it elsewhere or with them. Oh and before the July 1st deadline in case I need to reapply for January 2021.
I touched on other points in my personal statement because I have too much experience and 500 words max wasn't enough words to elaborate and focus on.
I'm just thinking if they told people who had their interview at the beginning of March ~8-10 weeks, that would be around the last week of April or first 2 weeks of May. Now come 3/26, if they tell me ~8-10 weeks, I just might pass out. Because they have interviews scheduled the first 2 weeks of April too. But guess we shall see.
Are you out of state? Or in NY, just not near UoR?

Oh I see. I have 1 prerequisite left that I plan to take in the Summer. I was denied admission to one and the reason was I didn't have enough A&P credits. I had 5 and not 6-8. My problem is schools here combine A&P into 1 semester and make it 5 credits. This is the last school I'm waiting to hear from.

That’s so frustrating! Where are you from?
