I got rejected from Mercy, but I actually was just looking up programs that took the prerequisites I had and that had a start date of fall 2020. I came across it one day and applied. Did you apply to mercy? @someoneacceptme

Yeah, you should call and check or email Paul Reid he is the advisor to the program and see why you haven’t received an email yet. That’s weird. I heard back in March around late March.

Yeah that’s weird IDK why many haven’t heard back. I’m from Brooklyn NY. I am still waiting on NYU, but tbh I think I’m going to Rochester. We should connect!

It’s really disappointing guys. I called I was told that there are 80 of us on the waitlist, and based off of previous admissions years they generally are only able to take 2-3 people off the waitlist.

We have until July 1st to decide whether or not we would like to defer our application to the January cohort. By deferring we would have to go through the entire process all over again; interview and waiting for a response.

Also, the fall 2020 class size was 65- all 65 of those seats were filled with applicants from the May 2020 cohort. They increased the fall 2020 class size to 80 meaning that only 15 of us were accepted.

I asked the person I spoke to if there was some system they used to decide who would be taken off the waitlist and she told me she wasn’t sure. She didn’t know if they would do it based off of rank. Meaning the strongest to weakest applications in the waitlist pool.

That sounds unfair which seems to only impact our cohort. Feel so sad and hopeless.

Did they say anything about why they won’t roll our applications/waitlist spots over to the next cohort?

So basically those of us who applied in the Fall got screwed. Unreal.

We have until July 1st to defer. They don’t automatically defer your application. You have to send an email to [email protected] letting them know that you would like to defer your application. Once your application has been defered you will no longer be considered for the Fall 2020 cohort.

So I did some calculations and it looks liked if our original application pool had been accepted into the upcoming cohort, the waitlist would not have been 80 but instead would have been about 30

Did they mention if we defer our application they keep the letters of rec, personal statement and everything else? We just have to redo the interview and the waiting process?

I am gonna ask them about these. Any updates, I will let you guys know.

Yes everything stays the same and we won’t have to pay, the only thing we would have to do again is our interview; granted they give us another chance.

she said that if we wanted to upgrade our letters of recommendation and personal statements if we chose to defer our applications, we would just have to send an email to : [email protected] with the updated information
