University of Rochester Accelerated Nursing Program - ABPNN

U.S.A. New York

Published

I just got accepted into U of R's accelerated bachelors nursing program. Just wanted to start a thread to see who else is going there!

Financial Aid Info:

The school gives out about 8-10 scholarships a semester. They are each $10,000. Starting last semester, the school starting MATCHING the scholarships with grants - so if you win one, you now get $20,000 total.

If you do not win one (or even if you do), the rest must be in federal and (mostly) private loans.

Best of luck everyone! It's a great program.

Anyone here on the waitlist like myself? LOL What do we do now? Anyone deciding not to attend UofR? If you've chosen another school, can you please post it on here so waitlist hopefuls have a little more hope? Thanks!

veebeeG,

I will not be attending U of R so that will be one spot open. Best of luck and I am sure that you will not be on the waitlist for long.

Cheers

URhopeful,

Thank you for your message. It really did give me some hope =)! Do you know when waitlist applicants hear by? Or when the deadline is for accepted students to inform the school of their decision?

Also, how are you sure that waitlist applicants usually get a spot? Has this happened in the past?

Thank you for all your help!

veebeeG - Accepted students have to send in a deposit by October 7, so I'd bet you will be hearing a decision sometime soon after this date.

As I had this past weekend off, I decided to take the 2 1/2 hour drive to Rochester to explore the campus and the city. And, I loved it! Decided I'm accepting and sending my deposit in this week. Who else is coming to the program from outside the area? Are any other females interested in co-habiting with other ABPNN students? Despite the fact that living alone would be pretty lonely and expensive, I think it would be great to live with people who are going through the same things (studying, clinicals, crying....haha).

I took the liberty of going ahead and creating an FB group for our class - "ABPNN University of Rochester - Jan. 2012 Start Date". It's an open group so you should be able to add yourself to it without admin permission. I think it will be an easier forum to continue discussions about housing and the like.

veebeeG,

How are you doing? I had applied for the fall previously and decided not to go. However, I kept skimming the thread and it seemed as if most of the people on the waiting list got on. We have to have our deposits in by Oc. 7 and shortly after the deadline, they will start notifying the people on the waitlist. They have to have everyone respond back even if they are not attending and hold the space until you respond. So you may also here of people on the waiting list get acceptance even well into the october. Good luck but I do not think u will need it. Cheers

Hi guys,

My name is Stephanie and I have been lurking around here for a while and decided to get involved.

I was wondering if anyone out there has applied to the may 2012 start date? I have and was called for an interview with Ms.***** in a few weeks! :) *fingers crossed-hope all goes well*

Also those that have been interviewed what was the general tone?

Did it seems like it was a weed out process, or just chatting and getting to know you?

Thanks!

URhopeful,

Thank you so much for all your help =)! I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope to hear good news sometime after October 7th!

Does anyone know how many people are usually put on the waitlist? and how many people are accepted into the program?

Thanks!

Hi Stephanie,

Speaking from experience, the tone of the phone interview (I only applied for the bachelor's) was very conversational and laid back, definitely not intense interrogation style. Read a few pages back and you'll some of the questions that were asked.

Good luck!

veebeeG,

I've been reading your posts and am rooting for you to get off the waitlist and accepted. Keep the spirit and hope alive!

Thank you URredux.

I've been practicing questions...7 pages worth for a while so hopefully I am prepared for the types of questions.

Stephanie,

I'm sure you've heard this before, but just be your calm, collected self and you'll do fine...especially if you have been practicing your interview responses.
