  1. Hey Mtee =)! That sound's GREAT! Will you actually be in Calgary on November 21st? I'm planning to fly down then to check out the campus etc. I'm also in the transfer program at UofC for January 2012! I am soooo excited. Also, would you be interested in finding a roommate in the same program? I'm trying to see if a few of us can possibly rent out a place off campus =)? Or do you think living on residence is better? P.S I'll email you my name so we can add each other on facebook =)!
  2. Hey TanFran and glim06 =)! Ahh it's so nice to meet the both of you! I'm so excited to start in January and meet everyone! It's going to be a crazy and COLD adventure haha! I'm actually from ONTARIO, and I've lived here my entire life! So that freezing your butt off experience - BEEN there, DONE that! haha. Seems like we're all kind of in the same boat for housing eh? I keep finding 'scammy' adds on craigslist, kijiji and the like! SO, I think Glim06's idea of residence for a while is the way to go! Hey, would you guys be interested in meeting up in Calgary before the program starts? It would be a great way to explore together and get to know each other =D! I hear we have to go down there in the first week of Jan anyway? Ahh, time's going to FLY by! SO, since facebook practically rules the world now, I figured I'd go ahead and start a facebook group for our class =)! TanFran, I got your friend request and I'm adding you now. Glim06, I'm going to send you an email so that we can add each other as well. I've been on this forum for quite some time now, so I kind of figured out the emailing system haha.
  3. Hi Grace! I just recently got accepted to the same program for January 2012 =)! Have you heard back yet? It would be great to chat with a fellow classmate before classes begin! Good luck!
  4. Hi TanFran! WOW, you replied as soon as I got back to my computer haha! If you have skype, feel free to add me - I've emailed you my skype name :)! On that note, would you actually be interested in cohabiting with a fellow student in the same program? I am interested in having a few roomates so that we can all get through the good times and the bad together and it'll be cheaper haha! Let me know if that is something you are interested in! Until then, I'll get on to making a facebook page! Hopefully, I'll speak with you soon :)!
  5. Hey everyone! I just recently got accepted for the transfer route program at UofC for Jan 2012 =D! Has anyone else been accepted to the same program? If you have completed the transfer program - how did you find it?
  6. Hi Everyone! SO, I recently graduated from the University of Toronto with my Honours Bachelor of Science and after a long thought process and some hands on experience, I finally knew that I wanted to become a nurse. I applied to several accelerated BSN programs in Canada and the United States. I got into the University of Rochester AND the University of Calgary - AND I don't know where to go? I've listed facts about both programs and I am hoping to get some of your opinions on WHERE I should go. Thank you! University of Calgary - 28 month program for transfer students - Canadian school (I'm a Canadian Citizen) - eligible to write the CRNE in Alberta OR Ontario (I'm a resident of Ontario) - open's doors to jobs in Alberta and Ontario - $17,000 tuition University of Rochester - 12 month program for degree holders - American school (Student VISA) - eligible to write the NCLEX - may be difficult to find a job as a new graduate that is CANADIAN? - most likely won't be able to write the CRNE since the program is half of what most accelerated BSN programs are in Canada - $56,000 tuition I feel that going to UofC will be the safer route and will provide me with a higher chance of scoring a job after I've received my license! What do you guys think? Thank you!
  7. Hi TanFran, I just got accepted for the Jan 2012 program as well =)! So from one classmate to another, Hello! lol. Have you been in touch with anyone else in the program? It would be great to get to know some of you before classes actually start in January. Perhaps we could start a facebook group?
  8. How is the job market in the next 1-2 years for NEW BSN graduates from the University of Rochester? What are the chances of getting a good internship or any job for that matter? Also, I'm a Canadian citizen, so will that interfere with any job applications, or do they not look at that? Thank you for your help!
  9. Hi everyone! I recently got accepted into an Accelerated BSN program at the University of Rochester (1 year program). I already have my Bachelors of Science from the University of Toronto and I am a Canadian citizen. I am wondering what job opportunities I may have after getting an American BSN degree. Do hospitals in the states usually hire new grads who have just passed the NCLEX and are CANADIAN? Also, will I be eligible to write the CRNE after completing a 1 year BSN degree from the states? Thank you!
  10. Hi everyone! I am a Canadian citizen with a Bachelors of Science from the University of Toronto. I recently applied to the University of Rochester's Accelerated BSN program (which is a fast track 1 year program) and got in! Now, I want to know what my chances are of getting a job after the completion of the program and also after passing my NCLEX. Do a lot of Canadians get jobs as nurses in USA? Also, can I come back to Canada and work? Will Ontario allow me to write the CRNE? Any help or insight on this matter would be greatly appreciated, Thank you!
  11. Everyone that has gotten into the program, please check out the facebook group 'ABPNN University of Rochester - Jan. 2012 start date'. A few of us have joined the group and it's a great way for us to get to know each other before classes start in January =)!
  12. Hi susanyy :)! It's nice to finally hear of someone else getting into OCU. Yes, I will be relocating to Oklahoma from Toronto, Canada! It would be great to get to know someone in the same program before it actually starts :)!
  13. Hey SON14, I will definitely keep my fingers crossed for the both of us as well ! Let me know if you hear anything. They said it could take anywhere from now until January 2nd >_
  14. Hi! I actually applied for the Accelerated BSN program at Oklahoma City University for the Kramer School of Nursing and got accepted for January 2012 =)! It's a great school from the research that I have done! Has anyone else gotten in for the same program and the same time? It would be great to get to know some of you before classes actually start!
  15. URhopeful, Thank you so much for all your help =)! I'm going to keep my fingers crossed and hope to hear good news sometime after October 7th! Does anyone know how many people are usually put on the waitlist? and how many people are accepted into the program? Thanks!
